An Apple and Pear simple syrup to be used in tea, on pancakes, biscuits.... or add pectin and turn it into jelly. The taste is LOVELY and it is completely made of SCRAPS!!!! Garbage!!!! The peels and cores you would normally throw in the trash. Cost: about $3 in sugar and a little bit of time. That's it.
Recipe can be found here:

Hello, love your channel. I froze all my apple peels from my apple pie filling recipe I did in June. I decided to try your recipe for the pancake syrup. Awesome Sauce!! came out awesome, 12 pints, the only thing I did different I added 2 cinnamon sticks and I added some ultra jell to thicken the syrup. I used only 5 cups sugar, it was sweet enough. the end product was unbelievable. Will use them for gifts together with your pancake mix. I'm very happy with the outcome of this syrup and its taste. This is a keeper. Blessings, Laura M

I would switch it out and add some tea bags around the syrup jars with a note on how to make thicker pancake syrup that way you get those of us who may not think of using the syrup to do double duty - I have a steamer juicer (bought the cheapest one $60) as I make alot of crabapple and rhubarb jelly and juice to drink. It breaks down the fruit without you having to strain it. I convert the fruit to juice then freeze it until I am ready to make the jelly. Your video is so great, it shows all steps and it was nice to hear the "pings"

Always used them for feeding chx and pigs. Don't have those this season in life. So, been tossing those and feeling bad about it. I know there's nutrition in there and I don't like them going to waste. That's a lot of nutrition and money hitting the landfill. So glad so thankful I came upon this vlog. Glad I read your message. Aside from apple and pear what other ones do you use?

yesterday evening around 7pm I peeled a bunch of pears (from my trees), washed, chopped them up into smallish pieces (peel and core too), put them in my crockpot and turned it on the keep warm setting with about 3 cups of water. This morning I turned the crockpot on high for a few hours then lowered to the low setting . I just got finished making the syrup, tasted it and love it!!! Will absolutely be making more in a few days. I cooked them on low because I had a million other things to get done and just couldnt get to it sooner. But it turned out to be a good thing I guess because the syrup is fantastic.
@OhItsJustMe2
@OhItsJustMe2 3 жыл бұрын
I made another batch of this today. This time I done it a little different. I put the pears in my blender and pretty much pureed them. Then put in crockpot for a few hours on low (did not add water). I did not have cheese cloth, so I used flour sack material that I got from Sams Club (worked great). Poured the juice into a large stock pot. I decided to add 1/4 cup clear Jell (didnt want to use to much) to see if it would thicken the syrup up a bit more, and it did. It taste the same as the first batch but a bit thicker. I will be doing it this way again next yr.
@OhItsJustMe2
@OhItsJustMe2 3 жыл бұрын
After letting this syrup sit for a few wks. That that I put the clear jell in got to thick. I will not do that again. When I made the second batch I also made a few jars without the jell, that syrup was just right in consistency but was a bit to tart (next year I will try adding a bit more sugar).

i absolutely just love this idea . my mother in law does whole fruits such as plums,grapes,pears ,apples and what ever else she has including dried fruits n prunes.she does not drain it . she calls it "compute". she also uses little sugar , it gets thickish from all the fruits staying in there they serve it cold in a wine glass with a little of the boiled fruit in the bottom for there orthodox christmas , which is on january 7th . its traditional . she yells at me cuz i make it for when ever i have a taste for it . you might want to try it its wonderful. i use to make it for my son as a baby but i did strain it for him and called it fruit juice . it's really different n fun to have 2 christmas's , 2 new years and 2 easters ! i am not a good canner !!! tried to make lemon lime orange marmalade once last year. followed the recipe to the tee , now i to have tons of citrus syrup i use in our teas and stuff. but that was a happy mistake and we love it . im so doing this , i bet it will not be like yours i will probably screw it up .
