@@knewbold09 Plugs into hard drive USB Port or Laptop USB Port. That's how the signal is sent to printer.

Ingrid Mari the mg2522 printer is not wireless. It comes with a cable to connect it to an outlet and it should come with like a usb to connect it to a laptop. I only know cuz I got one and I’m trying to figure out the IP address

The best way to print from you phone would be to have a Google Cloud ready printer ( for android phones) or Apple AirPrint ready (for IPhones), unfortunately this printer is neither of those. The workaround would be to connect the printer via a USB cable to a computer and then install either Google cloud print or Apple AirPrint (through some third party apps) on that computer, then you should be able to print from your phone. If the printer/scanner is installed correctly and is powered on, you should be able to see the scan option in the image garden. I just checked mine and it was there, and that's how I can scan to my computer. Thanks.

I got mine to start working. I intalled the MP driver and it started working. I was getting a weird message about the printer not being on or something when it clearly was. all good now, thanks (:

A neighbour just dumped one of these units on me without a disc. I downloaded the app and started scanning immediately. Colours are good which is important to me as I'm scanning 45rpm labels. The one negative is this machine scans the entire window where some scanners will figure out the size of your item and cut it down to that size. I have to edit every image anyway, so it's not a big deal.

When and where do you get that error message? Also did you install the full driver software that came with the printer? I'm guessing maybe the driver software for the scanner is not installed! The link to the software is in the video description in case you don't have the CD!

Behfor it's been so long. But yes, I had installed the disc. All is working, or should I say, I just changed the ink cartridges after the purchase..

Unfortunately this is not a wireless printer. However if your wireless router has a USB port it might be able to share this printer throughout the house wirelessly. That'll be depend on the router if it has this option or not. Thanks.

Yeah, my friend bought one today and it came with the cable. You guys are lucky. I had to buy the wire the next day because I didnt know I needed that cable.

It's a Standard A Male to B Male Printer USB Cable. You should be able to find it on eBay for a couple of bucks!

You should easily find it on eBay, Amazon, Best Buy or any other Computer/Electronics store. Just search for "A-Male to B-Male Printer USB Cable". Hi, thanks! This is not a network printer so it doesn't need an IP address to work. Basically you just connect it with a USB cable to your computer and install the software on the computer and it should be good to go!

It's not a photo printer but you can still print photos with it, I'm just not sure how much ink it will use and how often you'll end up replacing the cartridges if you print photos regularly and if it is worth it or not because the cartridges are expensive!

You can do that if your wireless router has a USB port and allows you to share the printer in your network, or you can also connect the printer directly via USB to a computer and then share the printer on that computer which is in your wireless network.

behfor I no longer have a router. I use my phone for everything & it is economical for me to have just my phone.

Unfortunately this printer doesn't have any wireless capabilities at all, so the only way to send print jobs to the printer from your phone would be by adding either a wireless router or a wireless print server. You might also be able to connect the printer directly to your phone via a USB cable, but that'll require a third party app so it can detect the printer, and that's something I have never tried and I'm not sure if that would be successful. I think in your case you might need a printer that has built-in wireless capability, if you don't want to add any other devices to the network. Hope that was helpful. Thanks.

You can't. It's not compatible

As long as the printer is powered on and is connected correctly through the USB cable and the driver software is installed, it should show up as online. I would suggest to double check the connection, maybe change the USB cable, Try a different computer to rule out any hardware issue. If you still have the same problem your best bet would be to call Canon support to make sure the printer is not faulty. Thanks.
