My church closed for an entire year. I asked several times for them to open. I should've done so even stronger than I did. I even let them know about the pastors in Canada who were arrested for keeping their churches open. They did not agree with their stand. I was accused of not taking the virus seriously, and "XYZ number of people have died", and they were working with doctors/health professionals to keep everyone safe. How could I possibly compete with that? When they finally reopened, unmasked people were not allowed. I couldn't see or breathe well with them. As time went on, I learned how completely ineffective they were and I could not bear to lie. I could not bear to see children muzzled - children I used to babysit! It was all unbearable to me. I couldn't force myself to lie and say a mask protects anyone. And so, I was shut out for 1 week short of another year. Chicago finally ended the mask mandates and they finally allowed unmasked. But how could I go back and pretend nothing had ever happened? How could I walk in there after 2 years, knowing that the week before, I would not have been welcome? As far as I've seen, there's been no change of view on any of it. When/if Chicago starts the masking again or asks them to close again, it will be the same thing. They cancelled an in-person Christmas service because they city was fear mongering again about "cases." I begged them not to, even though I wasn't welcome without a mask! As far as I know, there's been no change of mind from March 2020. I've been mostly alone for 2 years. I have lost everything & everyone. I'm only now coming out of the shock and numbness. I have cried so much the past 2 years. I'm truly at the end of my rope.

The spineless attitude of many churches has been the biggest disappointment of this pandemic. My own church was exactly the same. I am personally quite vulnerable to respiratory viruses but I never expected my fellow Christians to wear a mask in case they gave me the flu. Pointing this out to them has made no difference. We did our best to gather together a small group of like minded people and do "church at home" but by the end of the lockdown I couldn't even bear to watch the services, seeing everyone obediently muzzled, knowing it was a lie and that many of them secretly disagreed. I honestly thought at the beginning that Christians would be the ones taking risks to help people, or meeting in the fields to worship, like the Covenanters. So sorry you've had such a hard time.
@run4cmt
@run4cmt 2 жыл бұрын
Early on I could understand this, but my church kept up with insane masking rules long after we knew the virus mostly affected the elderly and masks were useless. You had to wear a mask to go to your seat and then you could take it off. You had to put it on to exit the church. Guess the virus is not active when you are seated.

@@janethompson4019 "obediently muzzled"? JC is supposed to the shepherd and you folks are his flock. Christianity is all about "obedience". Masks work. We need a debate there to sort things out but on these subjects these gentleman have to be commended bc they're willing to address it head on while most of the church is in denial. This exchange was gold - especially here @ 38:23 Doug: "I will never leave you nor forsake you", If you look for that (verse) on a Christian poster in a gift shop, you'd expect that verse to be on a picture of a basket of kittens," -- Dr. White: "not a landing craft of the beaches of Normandy" Doug: it should be a panoramic view of Normandy Beach, "I will never leave you. nor forsake you" Thank you for that illustration, so true it really encouraged me. What I appreciate about these conversations, especially, is that when I'm tempted to falter and think that perhaps things aren't quite so bad, these men bring me back around to reality and help instill in me a new energy to look out for my future progeny. Kind of a back and around compliment.” Thanks for reminding the world’s on fire.” Ha ha! I’m kidding. You’re right. Apathy got us here. The only thing I can see that might produce goodness out of this mess is people on the fence coming over and being on fire for Christ. Whether or not your secular neighbor who you have gotten along with before has gone further to the dark side, or he has always been there and we’re noticing it for the first time is irrelevant. We are quickly coming to separating the sheep and the goats. And the chasm couldn’t be wider or deeper. Fight the good fight. Finish the race. The time for live and let live is over. The other side already knows this and is acting accordingly. It’s time we step up as well.

My father saw this stuff happening in the 80s. But Christians were content to sit quietly and live in the wealth of our country because we weren’t being persecuted. But now that the country’s morals are diverging more obviously from ours, some people don’t want to not be liked and therefore bend to the culture’s views to continue to blend in. God is separating the wheat from the chaff.

To Doug's comments about "No you can't do that, you're five..." It reminds me of the Disney cartoon Phineas and Ferb when an adult would make a delivery and say "Hey aren't you kids a little young to be doing this?" and they would respond, "Why yes, yes we are." Then the adult would just shrug and say something like "Huh, ok" then leave like it was no big deal. It seemed so innocent watching it then... now, not so much.

He goes into great detail of what we are up against, what to expect if the progressives get their way, and how the key to success is with the family and the church. The book applies to everyone, regardless of faith. There is wisdom in here even for those who don't believe at all. Like this discussion, just straight forward, honest truth.

Yes, you're right. Are you sure no one saw this horror coming? I mean, I saw it coming for a long time, and I'm a nobody. Is there a place to go to raise kids so that they will come back to their home country and build after implosion? My main prayer for the U.S. is asking that God will continue to give us the freedom to teach our children and the freedom to worship Him. Worship and passing on the truth to generations as He commands.

The reverse of Kuyperian is the enemy. Pretty sure my Bible says that too fellas! Great discussion.

Yes the Post Mill Gospel is way different than the Scofield Reference Gospel.

Unfortuantly, they are well spoken but wrong. If the world goes on for 1 more genertion, as is, there will not be a human left for which Christ came to save. All will be 1/2 breeds as in the days of Noah. Christ came to redeem human sinners, not monstrosities. Satan does not win, Christ does. Isreal is the super sign here. Let's not be blind here, but open our eyes to reality while there is yet time.

Scofield's descendents seem to have a pacifist - don't fight, escapist - saved only to go to heaven, theology. The Gospel is called "The Gospel of the kingdom of God" in Mark 1.

@@inlonging most raptureists (escapists) don’t really live like they really believe the world is ending when it comes to important things like that. It’s ultimately just an excuse to do nothing and watch whole generations go to hell because they hope that the end will come soon.

@@michaelclark2458 I always imagined if one did believe the world was about to end, evangelism would be of the utmost importance, like you would literally be on the street talking to everyone. But I don’t even see that prioritized.
