Can confirm. Session, a skateboarding sim made by a small studio did a TMNT collab update. In it was costumes matching all 4 of the turtles' new designs, as well as a small sewer skate park. It was 100% free, costumes were purchasable in the in-game shop for in-game currency you earn by playing the game. Two key points here: *Small studio*, *100% free*. This is all capcom, unfortunately.

And to be honest, I'd be surprised if they actually did pay any licensing because the collab is literally free advertisement for the new movie, extending to a whole slew of potential movie-goers. IF they did pay anything, it probably wasn't nearly enough to come close to a cost requirement of $15 per costume to recoup the license fee.

But, Nickelodeon still has to sign off on it. Capcom doesn’t have free reign to price TMNT if Nick doesn’t approve. Unless they have some special agreement where Capcom pays a lump some and can do what they want price wise, even then its still on Nick for allowing it. I get what your saying but for it to be completely on Capcom it would require them owning the TMNT license.

Late but Brawlhalla also did a TMNT collab, same price as everything else. I thought these would be costumes for Kim/Chun/Ryu/Luke since that seemed to be what the marketing was implying.

Also, the ninja turtles in injustice 2 cost less these costumes.

One of these costumes is the price of an entire season's pass of content in basically any other game that exists. It's embarrassing and Capcom should refund people who bought it and lower the price. You can literally go buy an indie game that took someone YEARS of effort to make for this much money.

I just checked because I was curious, and each costume would cost me R$80,70. The set would be R$322,80. For reference, the standard edition of SF6 costs R$249,00 - R$280,00 depending on platform. Comparing the ratio, It would be like if the set was US$78.00. It's utterly ridiculous.

I don't know a single person, nor does anyone I know, know, anyone that would ever spend money on TMNT anything. I even enjoyed the turtles a lot as a kid, but as an adult I know well enough that they were and are pretty lame. They're on the same level of old, lame, niche stuff as Power Rangers. Plenty of people still love them in a nostalgic or ironic way but that is the extreme minority. Also on the main point, other companies wouldn't be getting slammed to the ground. This pricing is STANDARD for cosmetics these days. If you're seeing full body costumes in a game costing less than $10-25 EACH, that is the rarity; THAT'S the crazy thing. Look at Diablo 4 as a recent example. The genre doesn't matter, it is the market that matters. That market is "cosmetics in videogames" and people being godawful, bad, consumers have allowed this kind of pricing for something so simple to become normal. No game genre is going to escape this shit at this point, the scales tipped like 5+ years ago and it's only gonna get worse before it gets better, if it can at all. Always remember, these companies and the people working in them do not care about you, about what you like, and have little to no respect for you or any of their own IPs unless you're coming at them with a mod and pitchforks. Same here. I really like how popular the Turles became again in the last few years but Capcom just went a bit to far with this. If I ever see these costumes on a sale I'm gonna buy all of them, but not before that.

I grew up with the 2003 series and after seeing Mutant Mayham, I’ve been on a Turtle high ever since. That being said, Capcom is ripping off the fans with these prices. I love the Turtles, but no way in hell am I paying THAT amount for each character.. 😒 It’s not worth it. I can spend a majority of that money getting the physical copy of Shredder’s Revenge and it be worth every penny.

this is actually worse if we're talking about costumes specifically. The issue DOA had is that it would cost like $20 for 1 outfit that has minor changes for each the female characters, but that's still 15+ different characters with slight variations that you can use in all match types apposed to 1 costume for your avatar. (not defending DOA here btw, DOA6s Greed basically killed the game)

A decade ago? Doubt it was that cheap. I think you might be thinking of longer than a decade. 10 bucks for cosmetic coatumes has been a price for a decade now. No idea what game you found with 1 dollar costumes. Think you might be thinking of before that, when it wasn't even a thing. And going that far back the quality was also crappy. Now we are at 25 and 30 bucks for costumes in many games. PoE is around the 18 mark avergae, some more expensive some less. I think warframe remains to be among the cheapest atm. 5 bucks is a good price, the quality of the costume deserves it. But 15? 15 is nuts. Im hoping chatacter costumes are around there, 8 to 12 bucks max. I fear they will be more expensive though

The f2p model was latest 2014 more properly establishes I'd argue, but yeah exact years are not precise atm. And pc for all these cases. That's why I said before 10 years im not sure the practice was even known if it existed, which by estimate is the only time period were 1 dollar skins existed....... Point being, I don't think there ever was a 1 dollar costume price range period at all. Again, I'm sure some game that only 5 people know about and played did it, lol, but I also assume the quality was poor at that time if it existed at all.

And to people who say "But you can get costume 1 for free with the drive tickets", it took me a month to get all the colours for Manon. So expect to get all the costumes for the base roster by Winter 2024/25.

*FINALLY* someone mentions how we can't unlock colors for the default costume. Drive tickets or not, that's just unacceptable that we can't even unlock them in Fighting Ground.

I didn't like the battlepass, because usually battlepass practices come hand in hand with what's happening now with tmnt... Capcom can have very tunnel vision sometimes... but SF6 is great and could be even better, so I hope they really see the issue with these decisions and not just blame it on the players like always...

People are not going to stop playing because s costume is too expensive that’s for sure. Well you see, people let other companies get away with it so Capcom is also trying to get away with it. The best thing the playerbase can do is not give capcom any money for these things.

That's the way Arcsys handles like all of their games. "Here's color packs". Part of the reason I play almost exclusively on PC is for mods so I can just mod in color palettes are character body swaps

In fairness you can pay for colours with in game earnt currency too (are they called drive tickets?), they do give them away with weekly challenges here and there

Drive tickets or not, there was no excuse why we couldn't just unlock base colors for the default costumes via Arcade mode. Period. All it is, its capcom asking for more money ONTOP of the base 60$, Season Pass, and now these tmnt skins. It's just getting ridiculous.

It's not like it costs Capcom $10 for the printing company to print your skin and $15 for them to ship it to you from japan, If they sell 10,000 units at 15$ apiece when they could be selling 50,000 units at 5$ each they're losing money. I can tell you as a Riot games fan, that people Wil, buy 15$ skins 100%. That's definitely too much money, and while I think I can get behind it for a f2p game, because most will only buy a few good skins for the Champs they play over their entire lifetime, and because they have a decent free loot system that gets people 10s of free skins a year, the fact is that people are happy to pay th t price for so,thing they really want# and people weren't going to pay even 5 for something they do t want. People don't look at 5 skins at 5 each and think they'll buy them all just because normally they cost 15 each.

At least in terms of Activision with lets say Call of Duty right. We can compare since it's the same franchise we're dealing with, the Shredder Pack for MW2. You get a really good looking model with little easter eggs all throughout. voice lines for pretty much every action you do, 3 weapon skins (AR, Shotgun, and Blades), vehicle skin, custom execution kill, weapon charm, weapon decal, and emblem, all for $20. Capcom on the other hand has done considerably worse piecemealing everything like the wallpapers, emotes, stickers, frames, and worse of all, skins with no added benefit like voice lines, for... 4x the amount that Activision was asking for with MW2. What's worse is that if you're like me who plays on 2 platforms (PS5 and PC), again, unlike Activision and CoD, nothing you buy is cross platform. So instead of $80 to get everything, it's $160. Js

Yeah, OW2 has $20 skins. That is insane. Just one skin. I know it's free-to-play, but would anyone want to spend $20 on just one skin? Hell no. I've said for awhile the same Max says about a skin being $5 TOPS. Spending $5 on one skin is not too bad for a working adult. I think most people would put down $5 for that.

I mean, Capcom will probably still double down on these prices. Because if even a few people buy them. That's enough for Capcom to be like "yeah this is a sustainable business model."

Like Max said, those turtles were 10 dollars with unique voice clips for each turtle, all turtles playable, and they actually animate them pretty well. The day it dropped, not even half a day into it, I see a guy running around with the new hero and rewards from at least halfway into it. That means he not only bought the premium battle pass but paid his way up to at least half of it... DAY ONE. That's around $60.... These people dgaf like you or me. Honestly I'm fine with micro transactions to boost the amount of time and effort devs are able to continue putting into the game as long as they're cosmetic only. Monster hunter world is actually a fantastic example of balance imo, almost all the coolest armors, weapons, costumes, and add ons could be earned by completing the associated crossover event quests. For the most part the only thing they actually sold were costumes for the quest girl and weird customizable trinkets, stickers, and poses.

As long as that shit is priced reasonably for what it is, as a general rule of thumb anything cosmetic should never be over 5 bucks.

I'm a little more sympathetic when it comes to a live service game model where the devs continue working and creating more quality content month after month that keeps the game fresh but the line between sensibly priced and predatory gets blurred so easily when executives are the one's calling the shots.

@JoeyP598 like I said before, Monster hunter world did an exemplary job of this by constantly releasing substantial and innovative crossover event missions with cool meta relevant weapons and armor that was all unlockable through simply enjoying the fun new additions they added. The trinkets, poses, and NPC costumes they sold were all completely ancillary and unnecessary but added a cute way to add a little customizable flare for people that wanted to go the extra mile.

Not smoking its fair on there part they just need to see the stats of people actually buying ive seen a bunch of people paying for the costume and if people are spending on those prices why change it kinda like loot boxes without the boxes collectible items will always get nerds to spend cash

Is it limited time though? Blizzard is a bad company to compare anyone to, given their greed. Besides, Diablo just rolled off of Diablo Immortal z which made them money hand-over-fist. The fact that people were praising Capcom so heavily until this point feels a lot different. A battlepass in any game is a red flag to me, but it's not as if Capcom wasn't already charging insane prices for the avatar costumes. FFXIV is comparable somewhat. Even though most outfits are between $5-10, they are almost always bought in individual parts to allow for some crazy customizations. A non-animated, non-voiced Ninja Turtle costume that is not divisible in any way for a total of $60 to complete the set is so beyond greedy that I think Capcom is the worst offender cutrently.
