It doesn't mater who they're a member with, that usually just means they get the first call; Which they did.. I just heard it from a third party that there was a capsized vessel, and while I was with the vessel, and possibly preventing it from drifting on the beach, which entitles me to some reward, he was with the owner, and could have had a salvage contract already signed.. I used to work with the owner while he was a Towboat captain, so in a circumstance like that it was just easier to split the salvage reward (which is just a per foot fee, and maybe some tow time to an extended destination).

I can usually do it in 5 minutes, maybe a little longer to run some of the water out & put pumps on board.. 15-30 total..

Everything is repairable.. As long as it didn't bend a rod (because it went down running), you should be able to pickle it, and fire it right back up..

The cost/time of repairs and potential future issues is not an option for the insurance company and owners time of course. They will cut him a check for the agreed upon value and move on... Now there may be some guy in Miami FL who buys the boat at an auction and spend 1 year redoing it to then sell it on Facebook as a clean Florida title. Then the next unexperienced new owner wonders why he has had so many issues regrets buying s used boat in Miami and gets out of boating forever. Dont buy someone else's problems. @@CaptainRetriever

@@DanielCarrazana In my experience they try to get out of totaling boats unless they think it's more beneficial to them. It's all case by case, personally I kept my boat, and just rewired everything, ran for another 5 years without issue till we re-powered..

If it gets totaled, maybe if it goes to auction..
