What you have done with this video is to convinced me to stay 100% with C1!!! I didn’t realize why C1 doesn’t allow me to crop outside the image, but now I know there is the option! Thank you 3000! I’ll follow you forever

I'm not really into architecture shooting but I could definitely apply this for landscape. Another great one for my KB and well explained.

Gee this was hugely helpful! You really explained the entire tool and how to deal with those sticky situations where things cannot be completely corrected. Thanks so much for these videos!

Thanks a lot for your thorough and detailed explanation. Such an amazing walkthrough and practical examples. This really cleared things for me with perspective corrections with capture one. Amazing night photography and cityscape 👏🏼👍🏼

Thank you Paul. You should have become a teacher 😊. Your explanations are concise and very clear. It is a pleasure to listen to you !!. It would be great if the "Guides" could be not only vertical and horizontal for when you don't have a reference in both sides (like in the case of the church). It might be used as a "keystone reference line" when nedded.

Yeah - I think maybe an option to move the tops or bottoms in simultaneously (so they're linked) with a modifier key might be a good way to do it...

Thanks Paul. Hugely valuable as always. On the amount slider: you're (correctly) always urging us to keep it real. To my eye, in most images, 100 makes it unreal as some convergence is part of our visual world. Please keep the videos coming.
@Paulreiffer
@Paulreiffer 4 жыл бұрын
Yup, absolutely. When looking down or up at something, that’s what our eye expects to see, so hence my view on “don’t ruin the shot just to get things straight and level”! But, in some circumstances where you’re actively trying to correct for distortion, the default of 80 isn’t going to be enough, so the Amount slider will need to be modified.

Thanks for this great explanation. I am thinking of switching from LR to C1, and currently using the trial version. This video helps explain the Keystone tool very well. Great work.

Thank you, Paul. I am fairly new to capture one but not making the headway I would like to make, your videos are clear and concise and your teaching is easily absorbed. I guess time and practice is the keystone (pun intended) to learning this photo editing software.

Thanks for a very instructive, far-beyond-the-basics, well-prepared, calm and unhurried tutorial! (I could just do w/out the "smashy" intro/outro jingle, but understand it's done on YT.) When you finetuned the correction on the coastal church and in the Brisbane shot by minimally re-adjusting the keystone tool and guide-lines, i wondered if it wouldn't have been easier to play with the Vertical/Horizontal sliders in the Keystone panel? More generally, i wonder why KZfaqrs record their tutorial screen in super high resolution, maybe even in 4k. It leads to very tiny elements in the graphic user interface (like very tiny buttons, panels and overlays). Wouldn't it be nicer to record in HD oder maximally Full HD - to show a much bigger, less faded GUI that's also less destructible by KZfaq's compression? Anyway, a very instructive, pleasant video by content and way of presentation!

As far as I'm concerned the only thing C1 is missing now to be a true Lightroom replacement is the automatic keystone tool for all cameras.
@gbee8888
@gbee8888 4 жыл бұрын
Great video. Can’t believe the stupidity of C1 setting default amount to 80. So frustrated until I found that slider. As for “keeping it real” what’s real about 80. Why not 70 or 90. The default should be to fully do what the tool says it is supposed to do.
@Paulreiffer
@Paulreiffer 4 жыл бұрын
I think one of the challenges is that if you're *really*, really, really, into architecture photography - you should be looking at a tilt/shift lens setup to accommodate for that. Capture One therefore assumes if that's not in your kit bag, some element of distortion is perfectly natural as you look down or up at a subject - and so applies that. But yes - it can be confusing!
@gbee8888
@gbee8888 4 жыл бұрын
@@Paulreiffer I'm more into abstracts taken with moderate telephoto so there are no T/S options for that. C1 could at least make the default amount value setable in preferences. Anyway great video. Don't suppose you could do one one the lens correction panel. It's a bit confusing how the inbuilt manufacturer profiles relate to the silders.

Really useful way to draw out those pesky splodges, especially for macro at small apertures. I guess tho the removal layer might be best using spot removal rather than heal points/strokes if you want to reuse (copy/apply) the dust removal layer to another image as the heal sample points might not be appropriate in the next image - unless you can get them to be resampled that is. Any thoughts?
@Paulreiffer
@Paulreiffer 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter - I'm guessing you're referring to the dust spot finder video? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lc6cl8V4m86Wgqc.html In which case, yes - *if* the images in a series have absolutely identical dust spots, then it might be worth doing - BUT - be very careful. In reality, they very rarely do...!

Is there a way to change the lines from a thick white line, to what you have in the tutorial here (slimmer, dotted line)?

Thanks for your informative tutorial, Paul. Question; how did you get two vertical lines in the Guides tool? I only see one? (one vertical and one horizontal line). Searched how to adjust it but it is hard to find.

Hi Martin - Go to View > Customise Guides > Add Vertical :-) (You can also add horizontal and change their colour, etc too)

Has there always been a four-way keystone option? I know in the past I have tried to apply a vertical correction, and then a separate horizontal correction, but C1 wouldn't let me use both at the same time?
