Just got Helicon and find it way better than Photoshop for stacking. Makes life so easy as a plug in for Capture One. Always find it strange that people will pay thousands for a top end lens or the latest camera and then cry about spending a few pounds for software that will make a big difference to results.

Hello Paul and everyone who reads my comment ! Super video,.like everytime with Paul! Paul i have a super question, about two pictures in this video, and generally about your way of editing! I agree completely that the trend of the picures we see a lot of times, in landscapes, or wildlife, is today to overrecover the shadows . So obviously, we have the impression that the light comes from everywhere, and Paul you are right, by saying it becomes a flat picture ! But sometimes , for example with the monkeys and the foxes ; and specially in the last picture, the fotograf worked on his editing in that sens , was it not possible to have just a tiny bit more light on the eyes of the foxes ?? not so much that we get impression they have a light in their eyes 😂, but jut a bit more than in your editing. ??? in that picture the expression of their eyes was very important. The fotografs who edited his picture worked in that sens. ! the eyes expression is a bit in the darkness in your editing, Paul ! Or has the eyes expression to be really in the darkness??🤔🤔🤔🤔?? because against the light ??? our eye is everytime better against the light than any camera ! so if we start from the idea: we edit as we have seen the animals ..... perhaps anyway a bit more light in the eyes ???😊😊😊 Wonderfull shoots by the way. Thank you for your answer Paul !! . I know , i must try to be in the live session 🙏🙏🙏( yesterday my girlfriend broked her wrist , and i came too late from the hospital 😰😰!
@Paulreiffer19 күн бұрын
Sorry to hear about your girlfriend! 🙁 So - on the eyes - with more time, sure - and a lot of the layers were on specific details that could be brought out. In the session, with limited time, to redo every tweak would have taken too long - but for sure, it may have been a finishing touch. Generally speaking, enhancing/highlighting small details can be really powerful - just don't overdo them, as if they're tooooo different to the general feel of the image then it's obvious that it's been edited. That, and make sure you're not combining heavy local edits on top of heavy global edits - as that can push things too far :-)

I definitely hear you regarding the rubbish people leave in places like Durdle Door (but also in less iconic places anywhere). What I've learnt in the past years is that removing trash (as much as you can) indeed is a much healthier way to deal with this appalling behavior than only complaining about it. And it's my impression that it works, not in the least because more and more people get fed up and start picking up trash. The cleaner a place, the less likely it gets littered (again).

I think it would be great to be able to create an additional guide by clicking a keyboard key and then 'move' the guide = duplicating it. fast and easy, like duplicating something (like an object) in other applications.

Hello Paul and everyone who reads my comment ! First of all thank you Paul, to always remembering us the basics. yes , you are right. if we always put our own workflow we can't of course see the new tools coming in c1 and as you said it , we have paid for them😜😜 ! I definitivly now have lost the hope, my illusions to be almost! one time, approaching the level of Paul ,concerning the ability of using an App in picture editing. Every time , he finds something which is remarquable and we have never seen before. Incredible, astonishing ! wonderful ( the picture with the light Rays )💪💪😜❤❤ and at the end, to finish us, the ability to use photoshop( to fill the window with yellow . pfffff. Like i allready perhaps said before, Paul is to the editing in pictures what a Leonard Bernstein was to the sonates of Beethoven. we just have to listen and try to participate at the art lesson as much as we can ! 😂😂! Thank you Paul 👍👍👍 Paul, If once, you have time to answer my question about the warning lights in C1, when to consider or ignore them completely ! it is not cleaur for me 🤔🤔. perhaps is there a tutorial for this ?????

Comment about adverts on the KZfaq recording - I'm only 45 minutes in to watching this so far and I've already had something like 6 or 8 adverts break in. Some of them within only a couple of minutes of the previous one.

Hmmm - weird. Sadly, YT removed the ability for us to control the frequency of ads, but I think we can remove mid-rolls. Let's see if that fixes it... (PS - Live doesn't have any 😜)

Dear Paul and everyone who reads my comment! So glad to see and hear you again!! It was a so long time! 1. The last version of C 1.has so much improved the speed of Ai masks ❤👍. Really a game changer. I admit that I didn't use them before, because the speed was too slow and I had really before to wait a certain time until the AI was ready. 2.. Thank you Paul for the great demonstration to make the dark and bright lights desappear in the sharpness lines of the mountains 👍👍👍 I still have problems with that! 3.I am here Paul like an other person who asks also for the red warning highlights.. I confess when I work on my picture and it shows me a red light warning space, I always use the wheel of the red balance color tool to make the highlight desappear!!? Is it wrong??? I never really know, when to consider it or not??? On the last picture you seemed to say, here it was not so important! 🤔🤔🤔????? Thank yo again for your always so wonderful instructive videos Paul!!!! ❤❤❤

Thanks for the advice on my photo yesterday which was very helpful. I must also say that all of your videos, and those of David Grover, have been extremely useful in my first month since switching to Capture One. In fact, I would go as far as saying that I probably wouldn't have made the purchase without your guidance. Initially C1 is a little intimidating, appears to have a steep learning curve, and compared with other software, seems to have features missing (can't quite put my a finger on that one!). Thanks to you and David, all of that has gone away, and while I still have much to learn (as illustrated yesterday!), I am already comfortable in navigating my way aroung the UI. Cheers, Roger

Enjoy these sessions immensely, lots of small interesting tit bits all the way through. And, and excellent overview of Amount, Radius and Threshold in the Sharpening tab. As a perpetual license holder I sure hope that C-1 Pro doesn't follow the route of, Express and the camera manufacture versions as Capture One prioritizes the Studio version. You said in the session that Capture One Pro only had minor upgrades (yet it's a paid point version) compared with the Studio one. Maybe we could have Capture One Landscape and Capture One Studio and each would have the features relative to each genre and therefore keeping the price down for the perpetual license holders that don't need any of the features a working pro in the studio would need. One can dream. 😏

At 1hour 3 minute mark you seem to say that exposure warning is just a warning not an absolute fact. Even at 255?
@PaulreifferАй бұрын
The issue with the exposure warning is that it's telling you that ONE, or more, channels is fully saturated. So, a solid bright blue sky may have a B reading of 255, while R and G levels are way under. Is it *technically* overexposed? in the blue channel, yes. Is it *actually* a problem? Nope, not really.

How would you put in a linear gradient to just the sky and leave the building alone?
@AdamJRichardsonАй бұрын
In this case you could draw the linear gradient and then apply a luma mask to it since presumably you'll be darkening the bright part of the sky, so the luma mask can tell it to ignore the darker parts like the building. For the moment you can't boolean masks together so far as I'm aware, eg linear gradient and then subtract an ai mask of the building

@Paulreiffer3 ай бұрын
Ah, no - you're mixing marketing versions (which went by year of release - so, you're on 2021 = "Capture One 21" etc) with software versions (which have always incremented by 1 behind the scenes. Capture One in 2021 was at version 14.x 2022 was version 15.x 2023 was/is verion 16.x BUT - it's now switched to use ONLY the software version number, and all versions are simply called "Capture One" now. So 16.3 is the very latest version of the software.

“Always clone your stuff, then you can go back to it”. If Capture One would give us a history panel, we would not have to clutter up our catalogues with clones.

Don’t disagree - BUT I would still recommend branching off so you have different options to compare later
