Yes. It is so true that the eye sees more variations and plays of colors and light than the camera. The camera photo necessarily flattens and reduces the images.

Thank you, I’ve tried a bit of plein air. I’m very poor at it (so appreciated hearing your narrative of the process). That said, when I look at even my most disastrous results, it brings me back to the moment and feelings of where I was. Plein air is like meditation; it keeps one very in the present moment and is such a mindful practice.

Lina, I really enjoy your style and tutorials. They are so well produced. I have only just discovered Gouache and have realised that water control is crucial. If I dry my brush I struggle to get the paint to flow. So I await your next tutorial eagerly. Thank you.

Hi, I noticed you are working on a Guerilla pochade box 8 x 10 with the curved hinge. Do you have any trouble with opening and closing it? Does it get stuck as you are trying to close/open it? I have one and I have to keep loosing up the knob until I can easily close/open it.

This is really beautiful. Question how did you keep the gouache paints from drying in the outdoor air?
@LenaRivo
@LenaRivo Жыл бұрын
I didn’t do anything special that time. It probably wasn’t too hot on the because, so my paints were drying at a normal rate. But in the video at the link below, you can learn how to make your gouache dry slower kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rK11oatzl6vVYWQ.html

wonderfully informative and beautiful as usual. Interested to know a materials question: about 4:00 and 6:17 in the time a clear handled brush is being used- can you tell me what brand/size it is? It seem to be a thin handle too which is nice. Cheers~
@LenaRivo
@LenaRivo 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Tami! I have no idea what brand those clear handled brushes are. I bought them a few years ago at the local art store. They were super cheap. They are nothing special really, just basic brushes for acrylics. Even if they appear so, their handles are not thinner than the handles of other short handle brushes.

Lena Rivo That’s ok. I have a knack for liking products that usually seem to be discontinued! I like so much the Raphael Precisions’ that you recommend in the course;). So far they aren’t;) One other Q: How can I better understand brushstrokes like those used when painting with oils- I have read some on it and see how you are very ‘painterly’ with the brush strokes using gouache~. Is it a technique that can be learned I guess is what I am asking?
@LenaRivo
@LenaRivo 4 жыл бұрын
@@tamijacque8335 I never think about brushstrokes when painting. I just fill in the shapes with colors, trying to keep them simple. Because I always try not to overwork my paintings, you can see the initial brushstrokes clearly in them. However, the longer I work on a painting, the softer and more invisible my brushstrokes become. Also, the smaller the size of the painting, the more visible the brushstrokes are. In larger paintings they are not so obvious. It relates to any painting medium. So, I would say, if you want your brushstrokes stay visible you need to keep the shapes in your painting as simple as possible. Also, the larger the shape you are painting the bigger your brush has to be. Your brush has to be big enough to make it possible for you to fill in the shape with color quickly, but it should be small enough for you to be able to respect the boundaries of the shape when painting it.
