LOVED watching this! Many years ago .... do not ask how many ... I worked for a woman who did custom dyeing. Most of her special orders, she would have several lines of extra fiber and she would run out the dye bath. She told me that to her, a half-exhausted dye-bath was more interesting. ESPECIALLY if she could mix/blend the whole range of intensity. There was this one batch of Cochineal pink, fading out on several yards/ounces of Tussah/Bombyx top.....yum.

😊👍👍Loved this video from start to finish, thank you for sharing! And, the Harry Potter movies were great, but sooo much more in the books. (I read them to my sons at bedtime, of course using different voices for each character, and drew pictures of the main characters before the movies (I was pretty spot on 😊). When I read to them at night I had to keep two bookmarks, one for them, and one for me, because I continued to read once they fell asleep and I just had to keep reading😁!

Thanks for letting me (us) live vicariously through your video! I have been spinning and knitting for many years but somehow have not made the leap of a full project (from fiber prep to completed wearable) yet.

From one Andrea to another, I just feel compelled to share with you that you are my absolute favorite KZfaqr and your videos never fail to make my day. I'm halfway through my first ever handspinning project (drop spindle) and this gave me the motivation to pick it back up again after some time away.

My PolySci professor was on a sabbatical studying how life worked in countries with different government types . One story she told was of the communes in China where each village worked on producing something and this village had farming and made parka type jackets that were stuffed with angora rabbit fur and wool . She was telling us how life worked for each level in the commune, late teens and young adults worked in the factory and were not allowed to date till 25 so if it was noticed that there was a lot of eye or physical contact between a couple one of them would be sent to another commune. I asked about babies and she said there were sort of raised tables with sides that would hold 4-6 babies and there were nurses minding them, the mothers could come on break to nurse then go back to work. I asked about child care for preschool and was surprised to hear they were cared for by the seniors who sat on stools in a long building that housed angora rabbits and the seniors combed their hands through the fur to provide it for making the parkas and take care of the little ones at the same time. She had lots of stories, she was my favourite professor at the Catholic University I attended , taught by some pretty progressive young Nuns. There were lots of older , stricter ones as well but it was a great school, had only taught females up until the year before I started there, there were maybe a dozen guys but it was a great school for helping young women find their way in life early on. Sorry I’ve rambled on, it was the angora that set me off. 😂🙋🏼‍♀️

What a great project-I enjoyed the journey. You're so good st storytelling. You've never read HP? Blasphemy! I started reading them in 1998-my friend's girls were reading them and let me borrow the first 3 which were the only one's out at that point. I quickly read the first three and had to wait for 4 to come out. I got 4 at the bookstore sometime after it came out but my daughter -who was about 8 months when I started reading them- was old enough by book 5 to enjoy listening to them and we did the midnight bookstore releases for the last books. My daughter was Hermione for Halloween in kindergarten and most of her classmates had no clue who she was. Things changed a lot after the movies came out and now much younger kids know Harry Potter. The last book came out when she was 8 or 9 and my son was 2. A bookstore near us had a big release party with incredible decorations-they hired a company that put on HP parties so they had lots of pretty cool decor scattered around the store. Both kids-and my mom- survived the midnight purchase party..

We tend to get purple here from cochineal. I know different metals in the dye pots have quite an effect dye colors.

Sooo pretty! I love a full-process fiber-to-finished video! Have you ever dyed with pokeberry or sumac? It's just about pokeberry and sumac season down in PA and I'm interested in trying both this year! Enjoy the books too! My dad used to read them to me as a kid. :~) It's sad that the author is so mean-spirited nowadays since the books have always felt so comforting!

beautiful work. Question: Do you know about your cat's nystagmus (the quivering of their eye back and forth)? It may be nothing as it can be common with some breeds or something to talk to your vet about in your next checkup. Such a cutie cat.
