For years I suffered mowing hills with standard turf tires because people told me that chevrons (or lugs) would tear up my lawn. Not so. I actually tear up my lawn LESS with the AT101 chevron tires than I did with turf tires.
Always follow the safety guidelines in the owners manual.
This video is about my experience mowing hills and slopes with my Zero turn mower and how I am much better off after buying these Carlisle AT101 tires (24x12x12).
This is not a recommendation on how you should mow your lawn, refer to the owners manual for that information.

Can you talk a little about your ROPS and why you have it in the back position? Kinda caught my attention like I might be missing something with mine.

Great video, would those tires help on the front as well, I am confiding them, but not sure if they would tear up the yard

+EC-Services landscaping & property maintenance Won't fit the front, and with no power on the front wheels there would be no point on my mower

I've watched the company that mows the HOA mow much steeper then that with no problem. Not sure what you're doing different.

+grasscutter88 I have a 27 hp engine; any steeper and you won't go up it at normal speed with the blades engaged. ANY moisture on the slope and you WILL slide. If mowing across with just a hint of dew, you WILL slide. I'd love to see someone doing a steeper slope with my mower.

What model mower is shown in the video? It looks like mine which is a Toro Z Master, but mine takes 23x9.5-12 tires and the Carlisle AT101 doesn't come in that size. I wonder if a 24x12-12 would fit my mower.

It's a Toro Z Master Commercial, 5' deck, SP27 engine. Has 24x12.00-12NHS tires

I still cant understand why the mowers dont work better. Driving our zero turn mower feels like riding a bumper car (okay, I admit- that can be fun) and it doesnt have the vibration that our John Deer riding mower did, but living in the Northwest where it's soggy a LOT of the time... it's difficult to look out the window imagining prestine cut lawns on our grass acerage knowing the mower probably wont achieve that.

You need the nice (expensive) seat. It's about $500+, I think. My brother has one and tells me he won't use my mower unless I get one. I should, but it's a lot of money.

The seat is great, the actual maneuvering is horrible. It jerks from left to right with the slightest move of the bars, Im not sure why.

Zero turns, especially large heavy units, can cause turf damage easily. However, if you're experiencing turf damage it's because you're not keeping the inside wheel in motion properly. You cannot let that wheel "hold" or "idle" while turning. It always has to be moving. Most professional cutters will actually 3 point turn around and not truly zero turn. But they do it quickly so you don't really notice. Alot can be learned from a good operator. I used to make mistakes too but watched some good operators work a yard and I learned alot.

Three point turn is the way to go. Don't put divots in the customers yard.
