L67's are notorious for spinning big end bearings. Throw a set in at $65 even if the crank is chewed. Better than running on copper. Also that timing chain won't last on that big camshaft.

Hey Scotty. Have u considered running split ratio rocker arms to improve the cylinder evacuation on the exhaust stroke. Such as 1.65:1 intake and 1.72 exhaust. This would correct the cams underspecked lift on exhaust lobes. Making it more suitable for boost.

Scotty before you bolt it all back up check those plastic guides for wear on high millage engines. I have actually seen on an LS where the wear was significant and it caused serious issues. Also I know you have shares in a mollybond company, but you should only put clean engine oil on the cam journals and lifter bores. Moly should only be used on places you want to bed together like cam lobes to the bottom of flat tappet lifters (roller lifters should get plain oil as well). Increasing any gap over factory is only going to lower oil pressure to the top end. Loving this project.

@dinosshed

Well in Scotty, I'd have done the exact same with that cam bolt. Bit of loctite for insurance and she'll be fine. Next time you remove lifters, just pull them up till they get stuck, slide the cam out and then push the lifters down their bores to remove them. It can't always be done that way but it's much easier and doesn't damage the lifter bore if pulling out mushroomed lifters. They're always a dirty engine around the valley, should go well with the mods.

not sure whether to go pistons, rods, head work, cam, arp studs all through and a big spooly boy or just turbo the stock motor, (it'll be a china turbo either way I aint rich enough to afford a garret lol) it has to come out anyway to do the horrid rope rear main seal which I heard involves having to pull the crank :( so figured while it's apart may as well make it better lol converting it to t5 while it's out too, going for like 300bhp to start with but would ultimately like around 5-600rwhp out of it although I don't think the t5 will live long behind it, hopefully by that point I can afford g-force internals... although in 2 frames of mind with that 1 min I wanna go manual next min t400 hahaha but if that's the case the t700 can stay until then...

L67 was factory fitted in VS Calais so engineering would be a piece of piss
@5lcalais1
@5lcalais1 2 жыл бұрын
@@dizza1993 not in Victoria dude, it's a shitshow to engineer a car here , u can drop an l67 in any vs and not need engineered as it was factory fitted in that model, however u drop one in a vn u need to get it engineered as it wasn't factory fitted to that model, it's dumb yes but unfortunately that's the way it is. They'd still have to pass emissions, upgrade the brakes then do the brake test plus engineers cert, it's roughly 4 to 4.5k to get it all done ,it's bullshit tbh and that's why I've decided to go full race car instead, for 4500 I can get my elite 2500 and ic7 dash I've been eyeing off which to me is money better spent. The cost has driven many to just do a dodgy and go on h plates instead, just look at majority of the cars at drag challenge this yr ,barely any of them is engineered cause the cost is obscene and it also goes up the more heavily modified the car is, e.g. a car like allshow would cost somewhere in the vicinity of 10k ,is disgusting, it's done by Vic gov to discourage people from modifying their cars with their constant push for green nonsense, we are now public enemy number one apparently 🙄🤣 fine I'll just build a race car instead since for me engineering is prohibitively expensive, u know another 2 maybe 3k and it'll be running n driving and I'll race as is, get into bracket racing or something as the car will only be in the 12s to begin with 🤔

You can drop that balance shaft gear off and just leave the shaft in there. You won't even notice its not connected. Also check your valve lift. If you have more than .530" you will need to machine the valve guide bosses down to allow for the lift. Also you will bend a rod before you break a factory bolt. Not worth changing. Can do more harm than good.

Hang on a second, TDC is no 1 position at its firing position ( Not exhaust position) , thus line up the timing chain to line up with no 1 at its TDC postion, right or wrong, just asking or it does not matter as long at the timing chain marks are lined up, cheers :)🏎🏎🏎👌✌👍😊🙌

Bit surprised you left the balance shaft in it. Most people are leaving them out.
