Carole King's complete first appearance on Late Night, first with her performance of "Locomotion/One Fine Day," then a three-segment chat with Dave, a performance of "Read Between the Lines" and finally, in her last segment, "It's a War." Backing her are, I think, Robert McEntee and Eric Johnson (guitars), and Richard Hardy (saxophone).

Rare tv appearance by one of the most prolific American singer songwriters in history. The first album I ever purchased as a child was “Tapestry,” and it’s still one of my favorites to this day. Saw “Beautiful” on Broadway and it brought back so many sweet memories. Thank you Carole for influencing me and my musical career. Your music is legendary.

I have been a fan of Carole King since my parents would listen to her music back in the 70s. She's one of my all time favorites. Her lyrics are simple, but say so much. I got to meet her in person in pizza restaurant parking lot when she was stumping for John Kerry in 2004. She seemed just as nice as I thought she would be. Beautiful and talented woman.
@winesap2
@winesap2 9 ай бұрын
@@iandowney4630 You are actually incorrect. She wrote the lyrics to a lot of her songs. Her earlier songs were co-written with Goffin, but many of her amazing popular songs, like You've Got a Friend and I Feel The Earth Move, were written entirely by her. In fact, most of the songs on her seminal album Tapestry, were written entirely by her. I also love many of her other albums after Tapestry, and most of those songs were written by her, though many were also collaborations with other lyricists. I actually don't like some of the earlier pop songs, like Locomotion.

Recall many years ago, I'm 71, when I started to listen and purchase 45 RPM recordings of many of the hits they were playing on AM radio back in the late 50's and early 60's...I was always looking on the record who wrote the song. And time after time no matter if it was the A side or B side..Goffin-King was listed as the songs composer/s. It was either Leiber-Stoller or Carol and her husband Gerry on it seems 65 % of all my 45's:-)
