The great thing about Carly is that when she's singing, she's totally engrossed in expressing the music and making it as beautiful as possible and she's also embracing the joy of expressing it. And she has a great sense of musical interpretation, so that makes it great. It's about the music with her, it's not about the image as it is with the vast majority with today's new performers.

I'm a huge fan of James, and I have seen him interviewed many times. He never initiates discussion of Carly, but when she is brought up by an interviewer, he will talk about her. And he never has a bad word to say about her. He always speaks of her in a positive way. I don't know them. I don't know their lives, so I have no right to comment on their relationship, or lack of it. But they both seem like good people. My wish for them, is that before one of them dies and the other is left with regrets, that they would find their way back to each other, just to have a conversation and take joy from that.
@terraserpico4 жыл бұрын
@@PerthTowne I have exactly the same wish for James Taylor & Carly Simon. Hopefully they can work things out before one of them passes away. Reminds me of that '80s song "Living Years" by Mike and The Mechanics because it's certainly too late to fix things once someone dies.

What a wonderful thing to have stumbled upon this interview. How beautiful a person she appears to be. It is remarkable that Carly Simon is seriously even more beautiful today, than ever before. I have always considered her a naturally beautiful woman. Wonderful stories. I recall an interview she gave many years ago after James Taylor left them, where it was obvious she was hurt and perhaps not always able to effectively handle the hurt - not just her personal hurt; but if I perceived it correctly, what she experienced seeing her children being hurt. To hear her speak of JT, and do so with maturity - understanding, forgiveness, appreciation etc...while being frank and straightforward, speaks very well of her. I gained even more appreciation of her than previously. God bless her, and her children.

At 17, I heard Carly Simon for the very first time singing "That's the way I always heard it should be" over the radio. It is so coincidental that a reference was made to the great "MacArthur Park" written by Jimmy Webb in this interview, as the poignancy of Richard Harris' rendition of "After all the loves of my life.....I'll be thinking of you and wondering why" still haunts me with the deep love I experienced on immediately falling in love with the exquisite,deep,sad and beatiful image of what my mind had formed of Carly through the deep and honest emotions she expressed in that song.
