Күн бұрын

Hello folks, this week we're fishing the shore freshwater, baited up with a special 'bolt rig' and fishing for those freshwater carp!
We show you how to set up this special carp rig which is called the bolt rig. It's named that after how carp tend to bolt once they feel the hook.
With this carp set up, the carp will hook themselves as they bolt away. This has to do with the combination of a circle hook and the t-turn swivel position.
Also, if you wanted to get some t-turns of your own, you can get them here:
store.thundermi...
Thanks for watching.
As always, good luck, and good fishin'!
Ivo

Hi Jeremy and glad you are enjoying our videos - thanks for the great feedback :) That bowfin was surprisingly very good - it was extremely mild, not fishy at all and tasted very good. The texture though was very soft, and not your typical flaky meat, so that was certainly different

Glad you enjoyed watching our videos and thanks for tuning in :) A rod & reel will make for a great BDay gift! If ft long, if you want to keep the cost down, buy an Ugly Stik Rod, 6 1/2 or 7 ft long (St. Crox also have a good selection of rods to choose from) Also suggest a Pflueger President Reel - or a Diawa Black/Gold series spinning reel . Good luck with the new combo and we'll have more videos coming your way all summer long :)

We like to use corn, straight out of a can that you buy from your local grocery store. If they do not have canned corn, you can also buy frozen corn in a bag as your local store - both will work great for carp :)

Hair rigs are great especially with larger baits, but putting soft corn directly on the hook usually works pretty good as well. Thanks! :)

I like using the bolt rig for carp, and I also like using a hair rig for carp - but I guess my favorite set up is to tie on a T-Turn and then go down about 6 inches to a sinker, the n off the "T" part of the T-Turn, go about 1 1/2 feet to a size 4 octopus hook :)

There are a lot of stores carrying the T-Turns, including various Dicks sporting goods stores and many tackle shops - so give your local store a call to see if they carry them - if they do not, you could always buy on line.

You can also use dough balls for carp as they are also very effective. Also, another bait you can use is the Boilie, so there are other options other than corn. In fact, we will be airing a carp video later this year, using boilies as bait :)

Both tight or loose line will work, but I like to keep my line a bit slack and you can certainly use this rig with a J hook and once you see or feel the bite and the carp starts to run, just be sure to set the hook :)

Yes - that would be considered a dough ball - you can use the white part of wonder bread and roll it up into a ball about the size of a nickle - it will also work well for you :)

You can use boilies or dough balls - you can even use wonder bread by just taking some of the white part of the wonder bread and roll it into a ball about the size of a dime or a nickel :)

It was definitely a circle hook and if you use them, just be sure not to set the hook as the hook will find its way to the side of the carp's mouth, just with pressure :)
