I know it has been quite some years now since your surgery and since you uploaded the videos, but I still want to thank you! I'm scheduled for surgery in about 3 weeks and I eventually have to get both hands done. Thanks to your videos I made up my mind that I just want to have them done both at once because I also can't be bothered to go through this twice. xD I live alone, so I might have to take care of a few more things than I initially thought but I take those "few days" of struggling if it means I only have to go through this hole process once. :D Again, thank you and hope your hands are still doing great :)

Thanks for your videos on this topic. I need to have this surgery and I was afraid to lose so much time away from work. You've healed so quickly and that's important to me. I know everyone heals at a different pace but at least I know you can heal fast. The bathroom situation was key for me also. Thanks for being so candid and informative about that as well. You're very brave to have both done at the same time. I could never do that. I'm glad you're healing so well. Thanks again for your videos!!!

Amanda Norris, thanks for your best wishes. It's almost that time and I'm trying to get my place ready so that I am not scrambling at the last minute. I'm not getting both wrists done at the same time(😨)but, I'm getting clothes to wear that are easy to put on and off, food at the ready and slip on shoes so I wont have to tie anything! Thank God I'll still have my left hand to support me. Thanks to your videos and other's that I've watched, I know to be prepared. I hope you're fully recovered and thanks again. God bless!

Having my left hand done in two weeks and I'm so glad you posted this video! Great info on things to prep for around the house that I hadn't thought about, but now I've got a LIST! I see it's been a year since your surgery and hoping you'll do an update video to let us know how your hands are doing now as far as getting your sense of 'touch' back and if you have any residue effects from the surgery. Thanks again.

She's right about the bandages getting wet. Use gloves, like the ones you would use to color your hair, and hair scrunchies to close around the wrist. It worked pretty well for me. I wouldn't advise getting both hands done at the same time for all of the reasons Amanda had problems with.

Hello Amanda. I am due for surgery on Tuesday next week this year October 22, 2019 and I am scared. I am only getting my right hand done first because, I am a driver for the city of phoenix and I need to work. I am afraid to get the surgery because me and my boyfriend go half on all the bills, and I feel like I will be leaving my boyfriend hanging to pay for all the bills, however being the fact that you got both done I think that is a good idea. I am going to ask the medical assistant about it and maybe I should do that instead of wait til next year to get the left hand done. I am so glad you mentioned the poof with the stick I bought one of those a few weeks ago for me and my boyfriend so i'm glad to hear that taking a bath will not be so bad if I use that instead. I am a little embarrassed to say the least about having my boyfriend wipe me and bathe me but he wont mind. Its just the thought is in the back of my mind and I am embarrassed. Thank you Amanda for sharing your journey and results I feel a lot better now after watching your videos :)

@@iamalexvera hi alacks I did and the surgery went well. I got it done on both my hands at the same time and you just have you take your pain pills around the clock and taking a shower or bath is a challenge because you can't get them wet and you also can not and I repeat you can not lift anything heavy at all you have to take things easy. You definitely need someone around to help you out with regular daily activities. For 2 to 3 weeks

I'm really scared of getting this carpal tunnel syndrome. I'm quite young and I play games regularly. I used to do it on a controller but I recently moved to keyboard and mouse. I naturally use my arm for the mouse instead of a wrist like many people do, although I still use very slight wrist motion. I always wonder just how likely I am of getting this syndrome in the future and it worries me so much.

Hey. I wanted to say I had the nerve test and Thursday I got a cortisone shot. I go back in 2 months to see if the shot helped if so we're talking surgery. My family thinks it's for carpal tunnel this series has been helpful in me finding out what to expect I have symptoms in both hands but my hand specialist is really only concerned in my right hand because I have a history of self harm on my right forearm which is why I started seeing him. But what gets me is I'm left handed and I wish he'd do bi-lateral but he insists only my right hand first.

I had both carpal tunnel and middle trigger finger release 11 days ago. My thick bandage and stitches came out yesterday. My surgeon gave me post-op hand & finger exercise instructions, but nothing specific for my middle finger. I found this video which is very helpful for both trigger finger & carpel tunnel physical therapy exercises. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ortjat2p2raxYZs.html. Even though most of my hand & arm was heavily bandaged, I started exercising & stretching my fingers day after surgery to start range of motion and prevent scar tissue. Good luck!

I'm going to get my right hand done at a later time. I'm on day 10 with my right hand. Kinda wish I would have done bilateral because it suuuuucked. My left is scheduled for this Monday. Not looking forward to it because I know more what to expect now. I did it without IV anesthesia because I hate needles and didn't want to feel loopy so I just had a local shot my hand. I could feel tugging and the tourniquet was pretty tight but otherwise it was totally the way to go for me. BUT I did learn not to try and be a hero and go without the prescription narcotic after surgery. We didn't pick up the prescription the first day because I thought I could do without, but by the time the numbing wore off at 9 p.m. Tylenol and ibuprofen we're not cutting it and the pharmacy was closed. Big mistake. Take the drugs. Lol

I sit at a desk and type (work from home too), I had my surgery on Friday and worked on Monday. You're not allowed to lift anything more than 5lbs for 2 weeks so it depends on your work. The stitches stay in your hand for 2 weeks so the biggest debilitation is the surgical area. My wrist and finger strength seem pretty good, Won't really know until I get my stitches out.

Most of these issues are avoided by only doing one hand at a time. I find it difficult to manage every day tasks with one hand incapacitated let alone two. Kudos for doing the videos but would have liked to see a follow-up when the stitches came out and a final one maybe 12 weeks out to discuss the total outcome, hope you are well.
