Did you go to the pre apprenticeship program in Pleasanton?
@ChrisQuinteros
@ChrisQuinteros Жыл бұрын
No the pre apprenticeship program is in San Francisco, CA. Nonetheless, there a moment where they go off to their two week training and I had mine in San Ramon for the labors union, just to follow the program requirements. At the end of the program I ended up being a carpenter over a labor, did not regret it one bit
@jaibradie4994
@jaibradie4994 3 жыл бұрын
So was this schooling necessary? Or is this aside from being in the union?
@ChrisQuinteros
@ChrisQuinteros 3 жыл бұрын
Mandatory. Once you accumlate a sufficient amount of work and school hours it leads to becoming a journeyman.

Like your currently not working until you get the schooling?
@ChrisQuinteros
@ChrisQuinteros 3 жыл бұрын
I am currently working, but when the carpenters union sends me a school notice, I tell my Foreman I have school on this date/week. I do not get paid while going to school but it helps in getting a pay raise. Once I am done with school, I return to work.
@bluerune7305
@bluerune7305 2 жыл бұрын
when you take your week off for schooling you can apply for unemployment for the week that you attend school. at least you can in Indiana where i live so it's not like your not gonna have a check for that week and it's only 1 week 4 times a year so every 3 months.

Does your apprenticeship teach finish carpentry
@ChrisQuinteros
@ChrisQuinteros 3 жыл бұрын
My current jobsite, yes I do finish carpentry, but I do all areas of carpentry. Concrete framework, finish, rough,, etc...to name a few. Each carpenter company in the union may specialize in one area, so it may vary who you work for and what they do
