The pandemic made me search for this.

They should have just ended it early and just been friends. They werent right for each other and they both knew it. Carrie was different in the early episodes, smarter, independant. I think she should have remained that way and evolved. Instead it seems she went backwards, her friends evolved and she became shallow and capricious.

People keep dragging this couple nowadays but 1. it’s Entertainment. 2. Carrie was blindly in love and she acted stupid. Carrie wasn’t confident and she was often irrational. That reflected in this relationship too. 3. I think big did always have feelings for her but his commitment phobic ways kept sabotaging it. Maybe because he felt that with Carrie he could actually get really hurt if he genuinely let her in, that’s why he always pulled away. That’s my read on it. Now all of that being said: is this an ideal absolutely free of emotional harm relationship? Of course not. But I’m tired of people not even trying to understand the characters as they have been written and demanding all stories be perfect fairytale romances. It’s a story, it’s not meant to „glamorize“ anything or be a manual for real life. It’s a tv show. It’s meant to be fun to watch. If you don’t enjoy it just pick something that suits your needs.

I just watched when they first met & looks like that was a pilot ep. That they filmed a while before the 2nd one. Carrie's hair was much shorter not even to her shoulders & bigs hair was fuller in the front. Also carrie is much more confident & mature around big in that episode. I know 1st episodes of any show can be so different b4 it starts to take shape. Even a characters Name could be different or have diff actors in a role. Like on the cosby show pilot their were only 4 kids no sondra. Or on another darren starr show 90210 the some of the actors really were teens & it was filmed almost a year b4 it was picked up so the actors look significantly older by the 2nd ep. Brian green who was still in puberty so he was short hos voice in that peter brady stage Jason priestly had a mullet lol by ep 2 he had his short hair. No dylan mckay either & the Walsh house was a totally different one. Kelly's mom was played by a different actress. They also replaced the original actor playing mr walsh so the regular one was in only one scene & u can see it was just reshot b/c brandon only in that scene had his mullet cut off. Plus the pilot looked like it was shot w/ different film or tape b/c it looks more like a movie than a tv show. Tori spelling also is more of an extra than a character. I dont think she had more than a line or 2 & was more snobby & sorta bitchy rather than the sweet girl she became. Like when mrs Walsh comes to tge car & asks the girls what their curfew is done starts laughing at mrs Walsh & Kelly has to punch her in the leg to be nice. She def was way different when they started filming the episodes when it was picked up. 90210 also got lucky as it did not start in the usual fall line up in early Sept. I guess a show got cancelled on the then young fox network so it premiered the pilot at the end of October even though it is supposed to be when school starts in early Sept. I never knew they filmed tons of pilots every year that never saw the light if day. As an actor who does a pilot it must be major anxiety to wait to see if it gets picked up & put on air. That could be why they lost the original jim walsh. Sometimes if an actor sees their show Isnt put on the air right away they take another gig. Just goes to show how hard it Is for a show to even become a hit. When so many pilots are made only a small fraction get on air & of all the new shows on air only a couple will make it past 1 season & after that for it to become a huge hit the odds are pretty astronomical. It's all lightning in a bottle Like Seinfeld was doing badly its first season & started to pick up viewers by season 2. It was also called the Seinfeld chronicles. 90210 was originally called " class of Beverly Hills " sex & the city also did that character talking to the camera thing but stopped it at some point fir good after season 2. Shows did used to get more time to get their groove.

Have to hand it to Big or the Writers here: Big ends up with Carrie, I think VERY much for the reason that he laughed the most and could be himself with her. He WANTED the Natasha-young-Model-Simple-Controlled-Life.. but he Needed someone at his level (whatever that is for those two) -- and that was Carrie. [as a side note, too bad for... the REAL Carrie Bradshaw, Candace Bushnell.. that didn't happen].
