@iamthecheese2737

Everyone involved screwed themselves. The dealers couldn't have sold for outrageous prices if people weren't willing to pay it. People wouldn't have been paying those prices if banks weren't authorizing the loans. Plain and simple. If you needed a car cause you were in a tight spot, that's one thing. But nobody NEEDED a 100,000 mile charger at $15k over blue book. Nobody NEEDED brand new $90k everyday city driving trucks. They all played themselves. Not just the dealers.

Your's is the only one. My 2012 Accord is less reliable than every. I've ever owned this far. It's not terrible but, I'm certainly not happy with it with my 90-130k ownership this far. Commuter car full records. Not a good car at all. Turns out Toyotas and Hondas all have similar issues to many other manufacturers but no one talks about them to justify their bias for Hondas and Toyota. I will see many parts are quite cheap to repair my Accord, so I guess I'll hang onto it

@@mvc2177 What matters to me isn't the anecdotal evidence of owners, based on what I said it has to be thrown out. Bias. What I do pay attention to are what mechanics are doing. I've also owned a 2014 Accord coupe. V6 6mt. Would grind going into reverse randomly and worst of all a cylinder head had to be replaced because of porosity. The exhaust monoblock literally weeped coolant out of it. I had a 2014 4-cylinder sport 6mt, nice car but it took had manual transmission issues from time to time (that was my first ever Honda, hence the lease) But because I don't have any skin in the game I'm one of those consumers that tell it like it is. Not many car are very reliable these days. The 90's legendary problem immunity Honda and Toyota had isn't quite what it was. Every car from every manufacturer must be taken on a case by case basis. Some model years are home runs some are not.
@Christdeliverme
@Christdeliverme 17 күн бұрын
@@mvc2177 Well, that's exactly right about keeping this beater 2012... Yeah it has problems and no one respects it at all (crash into it etc) but it's cheap to repair, like the way GM, Ford and Dodge used to be (but are no longer) so I keep my 2012, despite torque converter shuddering and can't keep an axle in balance.

AdventureShop, a year and a half ago I lost my Tacoma to a careless driver. I went to a Toyota dealership and there were no new Tacomas available. I would have had to get on a wait list, so they tried to sell me a 2-year-old used Tacoma for MORE than a new one. I refused and decided to check out a Subaru Forester. Same situation, they tried to sell me a used one for more than a new one and when I asked to see a side-by-side used vs new price comparison the salesman wouldn't do it telling me the push to sell used was coming from the highest levels of Subaru itself, not his dealership. Seems like an industry wide shift, perhaps orchestrated on higher levels to get fewer people driving cars.

It still amazes me how people nowadays will send a trashed vehicle through the auction and bjtch because they dont get the money they want. Somehow folks cant seem to wrap their heads around the fact if you spend a couple,e hundred dollars in just cleaning/detailing a vehicle, it can result in thousands more at the sale. Even private sellers dont seem to understand a cleaned vehicle will sell easier and for more money than something that is trashed. Detail them before taking the pics and listing them for sale.

😅 forget about the skyrocketing new car prices and people going in debt, car buying in general is very stressful even if you have the cash, as I recently bought a 2012 WK2 Hemi from a private seller. Even after I paid in full with cash I still don’t feel I own it, as it’s now sitting in a shop getting stuff touched up and inspected. After that it’s time to wrestle with the insurance company before I could get it plated by the DMV. Every step of the way there’s gimmicks and scams, and you need to pay extra for the stuff you already own just to operate it. How miserable…

People - some people - in sales have a different goal than "sell this item/service" Instead, they have a pretty radically different goal: *_"DO NOT SELL THIS UNLESS I CAN GET WHAT I WANT FOR IT"_* I've seen this when I've bought property, motorcycles, new cars from dealers. You have to understand - this is NOT A NUANCED CHANGE in selling strategy. It is a way of behavior. "I refuse to sell unless I get what price I want" It's not stubbornness, it is a practice of a different goal. The goal is not "I gotta sell this" The goal is "I'm getting my price for this or I'm not selling". It does make sense for a dealer because they probably think "I have to get myself used to the idea of not selling. If I just buckle and sell for less than I want, over the huge number of cars/houses/etc. I sell, I will lose a ton of money if I develop the 'bad' habit of giving in to low offers" So they practice their ability to NOT SELL unless they get their price. It's just one of the ways to approach sales. It's frustrating for buyers if the price is just unreasonable, though.

People live like pigs these days. My husband's old job used to take him into people's houses and so many people are gross, some even living with dog poop on their floors with more than one pile. Thank goodness, his new job is with installing security cameras at stores and he gets paid more and no longer has to deal with homes. Some homes he used to go into he refused service because it was a biohazard, so I am not surprised at some gross cars.

if the auctioneers are in such a hurry to run all the cars through, I don't understand why they don't start the bidding at the reserve price (if the car has one) and just NO sell it if there are no bids. They waste so much time lowering the price just to get ANY bid then NO SELL or IF bid.

Where these online mattress companies get you (helix included), is the alure of s 100 day satisfaction or your money back + warranty, but what the DONT tell you is IF you're not satisfied and want to send it back, it's so expensive that it isn't even worth it, effectively making you stuck with it reguardless .

I put seat covers on my 2017 Prius from day 1. I am on my 2nd set of seat covers. There is a company that will come to your house and replace the lead corp batteries in the hybrid for 1900.00. My 2017 Prius has the more advanced (and lighter) lithium-ion battery. I'm not sure about replacing them. They are fully warranted for 10 years.

I bought a 2004 Honda Pilot for 3k with 150k miles. Light repairs needed but sometimes I forget the car is on it’s so quiet when idle. When you actually look for something that you use everyday it’s fine to take your time. Instead of rushing into debt and throwing your money away on a plastic trash can with CarPlay.

I see alot of people saying dealers screwed customers. Dealers didnt screw customers. Customers screwed themselves. The dealer didnt make all those buyers pay 20%-75% above MSRP. People were flush with money and unfortunately not as equipped with knowledge. The time to get on a soap box and boycott "unfair practices" was when they FIRST started doing market adjustments and bogus fees. No.......everybody wanted to keep buying. Now because people cant deal with what they/we (consumers) have created....they pass the blame to the dealer. Customers speak with their feet. So the lions share of the blame lies with the consumers. I know noone wants to admit it. Its easier to pass the buck than to take accountability. But thats the hard truth.

I've decided it's time for me to buy something. Summer is on the way and I have some road trips I want to do. I've already got it planned. There's a place near my work with a few cars I've been checking out. No one in my town is moving anything so I know they're getting desperate. My plan is to keep banking my cash and then I'm going in at 530PM on friday May 31. They close at 630 so if they want to sell a car that'll be the LAST chance they have to sell one for the month. If they want the sale they'll have to work with me. If they stick to their guns they can keep the car and I'll go elsewhere. But if they're willing to work with me they'll have a sale.

I’m the internet sales manager/ business development manager for a Hyundai dealer. Sales have slowed down drastically in my 5 years of doing this. People are stuck on the $180 lease payments, lots of people let their credit slip the last few years so even used cars are too much. Cost of taking in “value cars” just isn’t worth it for what we have to buy them for at auction and cost of parts/repairs. Every section of the industry is hurting. It’s a lose lose for everyone. Edit to add for people who don’t know - manufactures increase MSRP last couple years and we are restricted with how much we can discount, they put limits on dealer discounts. We want to blow out units but the manufacturer has changed the rules. Don’t always blame dealers, look at what the manufacturers are up to behind the scenes recently.

Truth. That't the exact situation I was in last year. '96 Ford Explorer was living up to "Fix Or Repair Daily" (after 8 years of beating on it, whaddya expect?) and it was nickel & dimeing me into poverty. So...managed to scrape together some money & bought an '03 Toyota Matrix. Had it for just over 7 months, only real mechanical issue is a funky idle (which I'll be addressing this weekend - replace intake manifold gaskets (both on the engine end and the throttle body end), give the throttle body a throrough cleaning and a fresh set of plugs); other than that all it really needed was a fresh set of tires. Looks a bit ratty, but mechanically it's pretty sound. And...it got me out of the poor house. ❤
