Sorry but i disagree about the eye creams, when i use facial creams my eyes start tearing up especially with solar protection creams, i need eye creams that don't make me wanting to rub my eyes due the sensation to have something on them, i prefer spend more money in an eye cream that i know is not gonna irritate my eyes

"Blue light" skincare is definitely just verbal fluff. However, lots of "blue light" skincare has really good ingredients hahahaha.. for hydration and radiance. It's basically a concoction of anti-oxidants. They just market it as "blue light" skincare. I think as long we're all well-informed on ingredients, who cares what marketing fluff they use. Remember guys, skincare is about INGREDIENTS.
@_chapternumberone_8782
@_chapternumberone_8782 3 жыл бұрын
yea but the difference is that you can get the same ingredients in a different product for a much cheaper price. „blue light“ skincare is definitely going to cost much more. So its not only about the ingredients, its also about a reasonable price for these ingredients

@@_chapternumberone_8782 not just that. what about morals? i simply don't wanna buy from these people that are tricking and fear mongering people into buying this. i love that this community knows ingredients, but so many others don't and are falling for the marketing.

Great one, thank you, Cassandra! I don’t buy that blue light has absolutely no cumulative effect on aging/pigmentation or is absolutely not causing cumulative macular degeneration. This is why I keep all my devices on night mode with strong warmth. If I was too cautious in the end, I didn’t spend a dime on silly, unnecessary blue light fighting products. I do use physical-only SPF, though, but not that ridiculous crap. I loathe eye cream now and stopped using it two years ago.

I gave up on toners years ago, but in recent years, some of them have been much nicer as opposed to that tight dry feeling we all wanted in 1998. So some days I use them if I feel a bit dry and some days I don't.
@aximaysosa8885
@aximaysosa8885 3 жыл бұрын
That's because the "toners" that were offered before were actually astringents, which dry out your skin and are supposed to help with acne but in the end are really too harsh for ANY skin type. Actual toners are incredibly gentle and meant to rehydrate and bring the natural pH back to the skin after cleansing so any other product you put on after can be more readily absorbed. Korean skincare is SO GOOD and now a lot of toners have added ingredients that help with hydration, collagen reproduction, and overall health of skin. Some also have rice water, which help with brightening, or mugwort, which has anti aging benefits, or even snail secretions (yea i know it's weird but it works!) that help with hydration. A lot of skincare is centered around hydration because that's one of keys to young looking skin, no matter what your skin type is. Some may have chemical exfoliators in them, which is a whole other thing, and help remove dead skin cells and thus help with texture, hyperpigmentation, and clogged pores, but should be used with caution and sufficient info and research. Overall, they're not entirely necessary but are super beneficial if you want to take care of your skin. There are so many good products out now!

This is extremely helpful! I have such oily skin at age 52 that I don’t use moisturizers, only eye creams. So it’s my only splurge - the rest is inexpensive makeup removers, cleansers, and basic glycolic acid stuff, plus acne meds. I can’t even use retinols because they aggravate my cystic acne so much. I love my Clinique eye cream, so I guess if my face ever gets dry, I’ll just spread it all over!

I mean you don't need it. But the reason people do that is because it serves two different purposes. You may want a daytime moisturizer that is lighter and has spf while your nighttime moisturizer has no spf and make be a little heavier so your face is little juicier when you wake up in the morning and super hydrated 😏👌🏼

i think there is a difference. the skin on our face can react differently to ingredients such certain oils while the skin on our body doesn’t end up with acne breakouts. i wouldn’t suggest using body moisturisers on the face but using a face moisturiser on your body should honestly be fine although most don’t come in big sizes so you’d probably end up getting through it quicker and buying more. i personally use aveeno for my body and the cerave lotion on my face but sometimes if i’m not in to mood to squeeze the aveeno out, i’ll just use the cerave since it’s in a pump and still effective for me.

Depends on the moisturizer. Some body moisturizers, especially the thick body butter type, can be a bit too occlusive on the face, but work well on the rest of the body which is not as acne-prone. But, there are many body moisturizers that can work well on the face, especially if you have normal-to-dry skin. These aren’t cruelty free, but the CeraVe moisturizing lotion and cream, Aveeno’s moisturizing lotion, the First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream, and Vanicream’s moisturizing lotion would work well on normal-to-dry skin types on the face. If you have oily skin and want something gel-like and lightweight, that will probably be found in a dedicated face moisturizer.

A little example from my lab: we actually use blue LED light to visualize DNA in agarose gels if we want to avoid its excessive damage (because for example we want to use this DNA fragment further). If we want just to visualize DNA and then dump it (because we don’t need it) we use UV ;)

I have been using MyChelle Sun Shield which is an SPF of 50, vegan, reef safe, and an UVB/UVA sunscreen. It is also slightly tinted so you don't get a white cast, that I can tell. It is also oil-free. It comes in two tints - a light/medium and a medium/dark, but I am not sure how deep the medium/dark would cover. Since it's just a super sheer tint, it might work on darker skin tones. Just something I thought I would share. 🙂

Cassandra, what have studies concluded on the effect of papain enzyme in skincare serums, and their effect on acne scars. Are BHAs or AHAs better?

Hi Cassandra!! I treally value your videos filled with facts and research. Is there any way that you can review the brand Monat and their skincare products? I see tons of photo testimonials and they show promising results but I am not sure if it's all kinda gimmicky?

I will still always use an eye cream, specifically the Tarte C-Brighter Eye Treatment. I've tried using any basic facial moisturizer, ones for sensitive skin and fragrance free, and I still experience stinging and little white bumps, and I never have applied my facial moisturizers close to my lower lash line. I only use an eye cream for moisturizing though, never for any "brightening" effects.

Thank you for talking about eye creams. I’ve been basically ridiculed for using moisturizer over my under eyes instead of eye creams, by multiple people. Somehow everyone thinks all moisturizers are outright bad for your under eyes? One person even told me I’ll get acne in my under eyes because moisturizers clog pores when put there. But I don’t see any difference in formula/ingredients/use between them like you said.

9:07 I wish more people knew this. I love my moisturizer so I thought I’d check out their eye cream. I looked at the ingredients and sure enough, exactly the same as the moisturizer. The only difference was that the eye cream was half the size for the same price as the full size moisturizer jar. 🤔😡 I’m looking at YOU Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair.

Hey Cassandra thanks for your videos! I feel so much more prepared to hit the supermarket to get some shopping done. 😂 Here’s a question- are nano zinc sunscreens bad for the skin? There’s so many conflicting opinions. What do you think?
@CassandraBankson

Great question! There have been some concerning studies, but I still think some sunscreen is better than NO sunscreen! And for a nano option, Dr Sam's is FANTASTIC. But I get it, it's nano.
