Do you know what a pyramid scheme is? I will give you a hint: GOOP is not a pyramid scheme, anymore than Revlon, or Fenty, or any Korean skincare brand you care to name is. I will guess that your thinking is something along the lines of, "Pyramid schemes are bad, and GOOP is bad, therefore GOOP is a pyramid scheme," yes? I hope you see the flaw in this "logic"...

I read the interview. She didn't say she was dissapearing any time soon... to quote: After discussing how it felt to turn 50, the interviewer suggested that perhaps Paltrow may be “the person who teaches us all how to head into our 70s and 80s with grace.” “I’ll probably try, knowing myself. Or I might be like, ‘F**k this,’” Paltrow joked. “I might just disappear, and no one will ever see me again.” Going off the radar once again came up when Paltrow was asked, “So who’s going to buy Goop and make you hundreds of millions of dollars?” “I have no idea. We’re not ready to sell yet. I need a few more years,” Paltrow said. When the writer then suggested that the star might “make a dramatic exit on your 55th birthday,” Paltrow said she’d “be happy with that.” “I will literally disappear from public life,” she said. “No one will ever see me again.”

I imagine gwen did not really work on the new cheaper goop products. This sounds like some sort of an attempt for cost leadership strategy, which basically means they are producing inexpensive/cheap/cost effective products instead of expensive/luxury/"quality" products, and I am not sure if gwen or her friends who helped her make the goop we typically came to know of are realistic and smart enough for that. Now that being said, gwen could have easily gotten financial and business counseling, and I don't think she has been passionate about skincare or self care stuff for a hot minute.

It isn't just the super wealthy like gwenyth paltrow who are doing things like this. They might not be as wealthy as her, but I met a businessman who admitted that he did not want to stay working as the ceo, and hopes to just be the founder and get passive income from his shares soon....when his company is like only a handful for years old. He has an idea and a decent idea, but he just wants to make easy money basically. I imagine that is the mindset for most people with business who happen to be born with a silverspoon in their mouth.
@ItsJessieYall992

Okay, different metaphor: let’s pretend Gwyneth is putting on an addition before she sells her house. There is nothing unethical about that and the seller, new buyer and neighborhood all can benefit from the renovation. If you were going to sell your company, you would want it to be as successful as possible before you do. Opening up a new lower cost mass marketed branch of your business is a great way to do that. Also, buyers will want to wait to see how this new label does before buying, so “Cheap Goop” will have to be successful and have positive reviews. Also as well, Goop is a company full of people and I’m sure the executives who plan to stay through the transition will want this new label to be successful. There is a chance this new line will be successful (both for the customer and the business) and I don’t believe there is anything unethical about what she’s doing.

The reason women are afraid of aging is patriarchy plain and simple. Women are of course gonna be degraded down to their looks and nothing else because in a patriarchal system, women‘s value is rooted in their youth and looks. It‘s a very anti human mindset to be fair. I have a lot of respect and admiration of older women because the pressure of being a older woman must be crushingly painful so to handle that alone is an accomplishment. Not to mention also that older women have a unique perspective as well. The patriarchy has been dismantled legally speaking but not socially. And as long as women aren‘t seen as human beings with intrinsic value, we won‘t ever be allowed to be fully human before our looks. It‘s a sad reality really but the best thing you can do is to admire older women. And talk to them also if you can. Look at them and don’t Just look down on them for being „old“. Our grandma‘s and our mom‘s are all still beautiful. And we really shouldn‘t listen to a worldview that disagrees with that. It‘s shallow, sexist and cruel. Women are more than their looks. Women are human beings. And women deserve to be respected and valued intrinsically no matter their age. Because aging is a natural thing. We shouldn‘t hate what‘s natural. And older women really aren‘t less worthy just because of their age. If anything, the worthless people are those that claim that that‘s the case.

The problem is that many people dislike GP, and her continuing success makes them crazy. The fact that she seems to know this and plays into it, just makes them even crazier. People really need to realize that the most hurtful thing they can do to GP is to ignore her entirely: not insult her, not boycott her, not making sneering remarks about GOOP's products, but just get on with their lives as if GP simply didn't exist. The problem for the haterz is that they've turned GP into someone of incredible importance. She's the scapegoat, the source of everyone's anxieties, and if only she could be driven out of town, then everything bad in the world will be made right: privilege, racism, capitalism, climate change, socks disappearing in the washing machine...all the world's ills will disappear overnight. I will put in a good word for her cookbooks: everything I've tried has been great!

The candle was sold as a candle: you burned it, or did not burn it. Why do you think it was meant to be used as some kind of topical application? I think it was funny as hell, and I would proudly display "This Candle Smells Like My Vagina" if I could get hold of one for a reasonable price.

lol I was definitely not implying that the candle was meant to topically apply to the body. I was trying to say if the candle scent was various essential oils, which it definitely is, then it’s a logical deduction to think she applies essential oils on her vag. I realize the candle was a gimmick, but she’d go on and on about how the candle really did smell like her vag & if you buy the candle… then it’s funny.

Haven’t finished the vid yet, but I am expecting to be afraid of the exfoliator and toner (considering the 10% glycolic acid, which is too much for me). Other stuff I feel like might be overpriced, but we shall see. Funny thing I noticed was 10% Glycolic with the exclusion of the word acid- is this to make them seem more “clean?” LOL HAHA Update: THE SCRUB WAS ACTUALLY KINDA GOOD??? WHAT???? and wait the toner actually does look good... wtf the sacchromyces and the tremella and propanediol??? the everything?????? bro.... aint no way i am genuinely interested in buying a fucking goop product. what. how did this happen..

I'm sorry I just watched 1:24 of your video. When it comes to celebrities it is just so annoying to me. I am starting a huge allergy about them being part of skincare brands. But I love your videos in general 😊

I wanted to like these products but they are so heavily scented they triggered my allergies. Had to return.

why are items like the "jade egg" and private enemas available actually to buy privately? enemas should only be used in a doctor setting! and jade eggs are just destructive and stupid. why hasn't the better business bureau actually done anything about her company? she's a good actor, love her movies, but her values are a little bit cray cray.

I don’t like goop. That being said I don’t think she’s doing a pump and dump on a brand she started and worked on for 16 years. Plus the quote is being taken out of context. There’s so much exploitation to be addressed I don’t want us to be picking at the wrong information.

Gwen patrol is really beautiful and cool like I live how nice she is with dakota (now dating his ex husband) and she has a lot of good movies but she is really weird with the goop and no sunscreen 😑

The target group was never the average 16 year old with acne. Not even the video about Kylie, whose line was targeting the 16 year olds, was that harsh. If nothing else, Gywneth build that company from gound up and it was her full time job for years. It is her good right if she wants to sell it

I’ll pass on anything Goop by her. There are much better products out there that are more affordable and some that are pricey but worth it (SK-II for example)

Don't hate the player, hate the game. You may not trust celebrities hyping their products because it's GP but if it was a celebrity, brand, and message you respected, you might celebrate an IPO or a successful sale. But I agree with the hypocrisy of this brand.

Not just hypocrisy, it's just dumb. I can appreciate a good strategy in the business world even if the morals are screwed up, but goop's strategy has always been stupid. Oh sure it worked, but it's still stupid.

i'm starting to be bothered by the "brightening" factor of some products. like, fine forlight skinnned people, but what about darker skins? i know all skin tones can have darl spots, but some how this marketing feels a little gross to me. oh your dark skin isn't good! lighten and brighten it up!

It’s almost as if she doesn’t want to be part of discount goop. She doesn’t want poor people to buy her stuff. I just could never support someone financially who doesn’t match my morals. Or science.

I will never understand why we are the only animals that expect the women to be beautiful! We should have taken a page out of all the other animals playbook! 😂

Actually, women have been condemned for centuries as "vain" and "shallow" and "self-centered" if we try to look like the peacock, rather than the peahen. What men tend to mean by "beautiful" is something given by birth, not effort: no make-up, no time in the gym, certainly no plastic surgery, and above all, an innocent ignorance of being the least bit attractive.

You need to remember her truth is way different from yours. Also she didn’t exploit anyone but herself and if she wants to come out from under the brand that’s her prerogative. I use her brand quite a lot and it doesn’t harm my skin at all. I think your skin is more sensitive than most people given you suffered terrible acne most of your life . This is my opinion only .

(IMO) She’s promoted this line with this smug “I guess I’ll do something for you poors” attitude. I don’t know if she means to do that, but to me it always feels like that. It’s just really off putting and doesn’t make me want to buy anything from her.
