Scout camper slip joint pocket knife design is a very useful design. Having researched the original boy scouts they were very much a paramilitary organization training boys in actual military scout skills, minus the training in killing, and as time passed they strayed far from their origin. The earliest boy scouts of America clubs were very impressive. Boys carried a fix blade sheath knife , hatchet and camp scout pocket knife. A wool blanket bed roll, a hiking/defense bo staff , campaign hat, canteen and dressed like a military calvary scout of that era. They were trained in wilderness survival, morris code, rapelling, waterborne training, water drown proofing, rock climbing, tracking & cutting for sign, land navigation, bush medicine, bush craft, camp craft, knot tying, Jujutsu , boxing, quarter stave combatives, hunting, fishing, primitive traps, mending clothes, signaling aircraft, military fitness and strict military discipline as well as etiquette. They learned a lot of military commando skills minus the demolitions, saboteuge and killing. Litigations and anti-military parents forced BSA to change from a para military organization to what we see today.

I just inherited a Maher and Grosh slipjoint of some kind recently. Ive collected folding knives for awhile so I believe that's why it was given to me, however aside from a Case knife my grandpa gave to me for Christmas when I was a boy I have never owned another one nor do I know much about slipjoints or antique knife brands/makers. Haven't looked extensively but I haven't found any pictures of adverts or any listed online that look remotely similar to the dimensions of the one I have yet. I'm pretty sure it's like 150 years old and it's just really cool.

Aside from cost, the Boker scout style knives are very difficult to get lately.
