Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said Wednesday his MPs will pitch 'thousands of amendments' to legislation and keep Parliament sitting over Christmas if the Liberal government doesn't scrap parts of its carbon tax. Government House Leader Karina Gould calls the plan 'silly, partisan games.' The Power Panel also weighs in.

As economists have shown - getting rid of the price on carbon pollution would most benefit the wealthy - so no surprise that Conservatives are all for it. Get rid of the frivolous public funding of the TMX pipeline which Canadian taxpayers have been forced to fund to the tune of $31+ billion and counting.

They are there to push the agenda and the narrative that the Liberal Party wants them to push. They are there to present government propaganda to citizens in order to sway public opinion and try to get Canadians to consent to the radical agenda of the Liberal/NDP coalition. Libel is the reason why liar is not often used in the House of Commons. Politicians each are sponsored by by their respective sources. Party leaders are often sponsored by large companies, and those companies have armies of lawyers dedicated to preventing language like that from being used, by suing the speakers of such language with loss of profits, and even if one was smart enough to represent their-own-self, these corporations would appeal and re-appeal until the case is taken to the Supreme Court, where one can specifically not represent their-own-self, and then they would further appeal in the Supreme Court, until the interested party/parties are bankrupt from Court fees. RCA hired a man who discovered FM radio, while trying to clean up the AM signal which proved very unlikely, which is why he ended up discovering FM radio waves. RCA fired the man for failure to clean up AM radio, and then RCA did copyright FM radio and bankrupted the man that discovered radio waves that were effective enough to transmit images along side sound.

Something wrong with being a teacher? Polly's nothing but a career politician with one job to his credit as a collections agent. His only election platform is to blame Trudeau for everything including a housing crisis conservatives kicked off when they let China out bid Canadians by millions and refusing to do anything about foreign ownership, taking advantage by flipping real estate. I watched it happen. And they sold part of our country to China so they could dig their own oil. And they gave China the right to sue Canada if things didn't go their way in our north. Cut the carbon tax & the rebates. As a small business owner, I pay carbon tax on the same things that everyone else does & I get NO rebates. So I’m part of Canadians that pay in & get nothing in return, thus not benefitting in the ways that lower income earners benefit. I buy groceries & gas in the same places as the folk that get rebates. My heating coat went up just like theirs did, so what the hell? This BS gov’t is screwed the minute a vote finally gets called.

The deceptive virtual signaling of this "Karina"'s* speech makes me sick. Lie 1) People making $50K a year get more back........so 75% of us lose money. Nevermind the basic cost-push inflation we suffer at every level in the value added supply chain of our goods that has to pay this tax. Lie 2) Carbon taxes apply to Fertilizers, which is a huge input cost in farming. The cost of the "Dyed diesel" that is exempt is pennies relative to the other inputs farmers are being taxed on. Lie 3) Calling the Conservatives liar's that think Canadians are dumb and calling the bullies.............this one is so rich it is just hilarious. The sad and terrifying part is that most of the Liberals believe their rhetoric making the useful fools. Pierre will defund the CBC so they stand against him like all the other media companies Trudeau bought out with grants. He even tried to completely eliminate independent journalism by making it so only what he deemed as “approved news sources” could show up in searches. You clearly have no understanding how how this person single handedly dismantled our economy and our national identity at the same time.

That “unless you make more than $250,000.00/year you get more money back.” is a total lie. I pay more then the annual rebate just in gasoline taxes and natural gas home heating. Not even considering everything else the tax applies to. On an annual income of less than 1/3 of their estimate. And, it goes up every year…

@@77feyonx I’m glad you asked…. Annual Carbon tax total rebate, $772.00. Annual Carbon tax on natural gas home heat, $444.84. Annual carbon tax paid on gasoline, $553.28. So, … $226.12 in the negative on just those two costs. That does not include carbon tax not displayed on electricity produced by natural gas, or price increases on any good which is moved, heated, or cooled with fossil fuel. Or, less frequently purchased items like engine oil or tires. What does yours look like?

Well every time farmer fills fuel. So cultivating. Than seeding , land rolling, fertilizing, swathing, combining , trucking home , trucking to elevators, train to mill, trucking to mill , processing at mill fork lift and truck to the bakery ,cooking , trucked to the store. Everytime a fuel burning or electricity is used to touch the grain affects the price.

How much money have Canadians paid in TOTAL so far towards fighting climate change (climate accords, carbon taxes, global initiatives we’ve funded, government incentives for green energy sources and green vehicles etc)? What do we have to show for it? Precisely how have the temperatures shifted, and precisely how have the weather patterns been affected/stabilized as a DIRECT RESULT of the money Canadians have paid??? How much have temperatures lowered? How many extreme weather events have been deterred/averted as a result of our “fighting climate change” spending? Show us the data so we can decide if these initiatives, pacts, programs, taxes, agreements, incentives and mandates are actually generating the promises results.

Why hasn’t it prevented the forest fires? What have they been spending the money on??? What are the specific results of the spending in terms of “fighting climate change”??? We’re told these things are happening because of climate change. We’re told we need to spend money on all sorts of things to fight climate change. So, what is the money doing? Is it helping to fix temperature shifts and weather patterns? Because that’s what they’re saying climate change is, and that’s what we’ve been spending money to improve…….yet I’m still seeing all of things mentioned above.

I have tried on a couple occasions over the past several years to listen to CBC news with tolerance and an open mind, laying aside their reputation as patronizing parasites. But when I hear nonsense espoused in such a condescending manner which doesn't make any sense nor does it contribute to the enhancement or strengthening of our Nation, I feel only nausea. Then being told what I think, how I act and where I am positioned on a horizonal scale of worldviews should my opinion or the placement of my faith differ from what is dictated by your high priest, I'm out. Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie and I will spend my time and energy on input that is true and wholesome. Guess it'll be another tencenial before I try again.

The war in Ukraine has a bigger impact on food prices. The carbon tax is almost token and we've seen that places that have it don't suffer from inflation, while inflation happened all around the world all at once due to supply chain issues. Countries with no carbon tax still have inflation.
