I'll be 65 in April, which is the official age for Medicare for retirees. So, my FRA would be in 2023, which would take effect that October. Now 3 years ago, I asked Avvo about getting a CDR at age 62, and at least 2 lawyers told me that it would be most unlikely I would get one but could if I worked. And 2 lady lawyers here on KZfaq agreed as well. In any case, I'm early retirement age, and I read somewhere that for every year after age 62, I'd get 7% more until FRA, when full disability is converted to for about the same monthly amount.

I am not aware of the increase in income. read somewhere that for every year after age 62, I'd get 7% more until FRA, when full disability is converted to for about the same monthly amount.

If you are working and claim Social Security at or between age 62 and your full retirement age, your social security will be permanently reduced. If you are not working and are receiving SSDI, you receive the full amount of your social security benefits as they were calculated based on your SSA record at the time you were approved for SSDI. When you are receiving SSDI and reach your full retirement age, your benefit amount remains the same, but it comes out of the SSA retirement trust fund rather than the SSDI trust fund.
@aaronhadley3750
@aaronhadley3750 Жыл бұрын
If you are working and work beyond your full retirement age, your social security amount will increase 8 percent each year you work, up to age 70. After age 70 there is no further increase. This increase does not apply to SSDI recipients, only if you are working.

I`m on SSI. I knew better than waste my back pay on a car. I bought a 30 ft camper, prepping gear, and as much solar power as possible. They can`t take that away hopefully. SSI doesn`t allow us to save money for car repairs or anything else so what`s the use if I can`t even afford gas, engine repairs, or even damned tires? My only option, the way I see it, is to do my very best to figure out how to grow or catch my own food and have a reliable power source for the next ten years so my freezer won`t thaw out and ensure I have lights, fans, electric mower, and 12 volt cooking. I can`t afford the solar for air conditioning or heat. I hope I can power an electric tiller from solar. I may only need a cheap charge controller, AC inverter, and a single large battery to do it. I don`t know. I expect that no matter what I`ll be punished.

I'm 55 years old disabled and been receiving SSDI for my self. My diasbled husband just passed away 5 months ago. I applied for widow spousal benefits and they interviewed me over the phone by the SSA and took the application. I received a letter that they did receive my medical records from my primary doctors and I need Psychological mental evaluation before making a decision for the benefits. They said I should receive an answer within a month. A month passed and now I receive another letter that they are referring me to see a medical doctor for evalution. My appointment scheduled in April. I'm just wondering why I have to go through that again. In the beginning they told me that I only need the Mental test evaluation. What is that mean? Are they trying not to approve my spousal benefits? I hope you can advice me. Thank you.

I think this is one of the dumbest things they do ... Totaly waste of your time and tax payers money because you're already approved for Social Security disability benefits... why do they need to send you back through the process so that you can get widow's benefits. Sorry for the rant. My best advice is. 1. be patient 2. play the game do everything they. 3. The simple answer is that the Judge takes their statement or opinion and that's it. You are not on criminal trial and those rules do not apply. Basically, the Judge looks at everything and decides.

Thank you for these educational videos! I have severe epilepsy and recieve SSI. In 2019 my grandfather left myself andy dad a family property. The property was sold,owner financed for $68,000 in July 2020. I am not getting any of the $848 monthly mortgage payment. I am listed on the deed in the event my dad passes and the property is still in financing status I will be the heir to whatever remains in the mortgage. SSI received information from the Title Company. The information th y recieve makes it looks as if the home was sold in one lump transaction. SSI keeps thinking I received $34,000 in a lump sum and my father recieved $34,000 in a lump sum. This is not the case. My father and I sent them a notorized document explaining that I'm not getting any of the monthly mortgage payment of $848. I am listed only for inheritance purposes. Now I received an " Amendments to Redetermination Summary for Determining Continuing Eligibility for Supplemental Security Income Payments". It states " I receive or expect to receive the following income RE-Property Amount: $34,000. Permissions to Contact Financial Institutions" I do not know what to do about this because I nor my father have received any lump sum. I haven't gotten a penny from the whole transaction. Any advice would be much appreciated. My Medicaid is my life support. I feel like SSA is trying to misinterpret this information intentionally to cut my SSI.

I was approved and I had no doctor. I was given an appt with an SsA psych who said i couldnt work..and wrote in their report that i wasnt interested in treatment. ..i dont trust drs...and they cant help me even if i did. I cant take any of their meds because i have chronic angle closure glaucoma...that i developed after i was approved. I guess God is punishing me...a sight threatening illness that forces me to go to drs now...and ive been "dismissed" from 2 practices ( i didnt do anything but act terrified..they said my fear was a liability..i needed to trust them) i was warned by the medical college that if i ask more questions ill be dismissed. Thats what ill tell ssa if they review me. ..that drs throw me out..which is another reason to hate them

If you voluntarily stop your SSDI do they still do a medical review?
@TheDisabilityDigest

If you are not on SSDI you would net get a review to confirm that you qualify

Hi Brian. Can I do a part-time independent contractor type (own professional services type, to add up income-work at home only an 4 hour week, it will help me with my meds and my disabled mom meds including food- too expensive and costly food. Is this a right route?

Sounds great... For 2022 you can earn $970 a month and keep your Social Security Disability benefits. The $970 is gross if you are a W-2 employee or net after expenses if you are self-employed filing 1099. The video on the website below shows you the SSA regulation: www.thedisabilitydigest.com/how-much-i-can-make

Some of the information provided here, by the Social Security's own website, is wrong; "The law requires us to perform a medical CDR *at least once every three years* , however, if you have a medical condition that is not expected to improve, we will still review your case, *once every five to seven years* ." The SSA provides the text of the law itself: 20 CFR "§ 404.1590. When and how often we will conduct a continuing disability review." expressly states "(d) Frequency of review. If your impairment is expected to improve, generally we will review your continuing eligibility for disability benefits at intervals from 6 months to 18 months following our most recent decision. Our notice to you about the review of your case will tell you more precisely when the review will be conducted. If your disability is not considered permanent but is such that any medical improvement in your impairment(s) cannot be accurately predicted, we will review your continuing eligibility for disability benefits at least once every 3 years. *If your disability is considered permanent, we will review your continuing eligibility for benefits no less frequently than once every 7 years but no more frequently than once every 5 years.* " The SSA's _How We Decide if You Still Have a Qualifying Disability_ paper (Publication No. 05-10053) dated Feb 2021 states "If improvement is not expected, we’ll review your case every *seven* years." So there is some confusion about the MINE being five to seven or just seven years but it is at least five years by § 404.1590 (d) barring triggers for an earlier review. Best to read § 404.1590 (provided by the SSA itself - www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/cfr20/404/404-1590.htm ) in its entirety to see what those triggers are.

@@TheDisabilityDigest Nope. But I can research; there are categories for SSI/SSDI CDRs: *MIE: Medical Improvement Expected (6 months to 18 months) *MIP: Medical Improvement Possible. (every 3 years) *MINE: Medical Improvement Not Expected. (at least 5 but no more than 7 years) I've added the relevant information to my original post.
