Cecil's got the right idea. Forensic science would ABSOLUTELY figure out that it was Nolan that killed the guardians, especially if given the budget the GDA has. All that evidence everywhere; blood splatter analysts have it down to a science by now, so Cecil knew the day after, at the latest. Even without that, I'm sure the circular bone fractures in Nolan's jaw would point telltale to War Woman's Mace. Thus, for the entirety of the duration of Season one, Cecil was doing the one thing humanity CAN do in a situation like this; play dumb, and use its prep time well. Experiment on Viltrumite blood, keep sending Nolan on missions, act like everything's normal for as long as you can, In other words; "Buy us a little more time". Because humanity's only chance is Prep Time.

My main gripe with teleporters that’s actually shown here is they appear to be the perfect weapon. Cecil’s tie was cut neatly in half as it was held in place, so why not just teleport half a person to kill them?

There are literally missiles in the US arsenal that cost more than $5 million per use. The main reason why the US government wouldn't use teleportation even MORE is because having a bunch of superheroes around the world acts as a more cost-effective method of dealing with potential supervillain threats.

Don't forget, that was 5 million dollars in 2003. If you adjust for inflation it goes up to 7,950,000 per jump. So season 1 cecil actually did 127,200,000 by modern day standards.
@Balognamanforya5 ай бұрын
Remember that the teleport is instant, so during his time with omni man trying to kill him, each one of those teleports are technically double, once back to the pentagon, and then back to some "safe" spot away from omni man
@Badartist8885 ай бұрын
There is probably some kind of economy of scale involved here. Most of the cost is likely in R&D and set up. So the more he uses it the lower the average cost of each teleport.
@howlingdin9332Ай бұрын
Cecil is the director of a department predicated on ensuring national security in the face of supernatural threats, in a world where such threats are commonplace and constantly present. With that in mind, the argument that the several hours of his time required to travel from point A to point B is worth more than $5 million dollars holds water. And one can almost definitely argue that the destructive force Omni-man is capable of (and inflicted) is well over $80 mil in value, and Cecil's liberal use of the teleporter in order to distract him paid for itself.
@solarwind5 ай бұрын
I feel like Americans would actually use a teleporter that custom 5 million every time. Not caring about how much debt they end up in. After all, their debt literally exceeds the entire planets currency already. On top of that that cars you probably cost more than the 5 million to teleport since it burned out the teleporter
@Teth475 ай бұрын
There are about 250 trillion us dollars in the world economy, us national debt is about 30 trillion and most of that is circular debt, i.e they owe, for example, China a couple trillion dollars, but China also owes them about the same amount.
@solarwind5 ай бұрын
@@Teth47 when you get into large sums like this, you'll start realising that money is a tool and it truly is worthless in the grand scheme of things. Nothing for more than a tool to get what you want. What is the current inflation is precisely because it doesn't have any real value which means companies are free to put their goddamn prices up as much however, this in turn generates the belief that the money doesn't have as much value, which in turn lowers the value of the money
@Teth475 ай бұрын
@@solarwind Yes, money is a tool we use to stand in for actual value. It's fundamentally worthless by itself and largely controlled by people. I was just pointing out that the US does not, indeed, owe more money than there is. Fun fact though: There are about 500 quadrillion dollars invested in futures over the next decade, which means that if we don't somehow increase productivity by ~1000x in the next decade, money becomes worth 1/1000 what it currently is, or a bunch of rich people become much less rich. You and I both know which of those will happen.

@@Teth47 solution: regress back to the stone age and use berries and basic stone weapons as currency instead
@solarwind5 ай бұрын
@@Teth47I was pointing out that The US is debt at one point did exceed the amount of currency on the planet. It's just they decided to prick more money and if there's more money. Therefore their debt does not exceed the amount of currency on the planet and truth. What I'm trying to say is that the US debt or a country's debt is completely fictional because no one can really ever pay it back. Especially when you consider that the US owes itself the money in the first place that it actually owes money too

I would assume the energy expended isn't the same for every object, and it probably scales with either the volume or mass teleported. That monster at the end could have easily been tens of bilions of dollars.
