As always I enjoyed this video. Had never thought to put baked beans and hamburger together like that Bet you I try it. 😊 My Momma used to diced onion and chop up bacon and cook it and add pork-n-beans and heat through. So good. That is what yours reminded me of. My Daddy was the slaw maker at our house. He used cabbage, carrots and Miracle Whip. I think that is why I love your videos. You remind me of family. 😊. Excited for the babies to get here. 😊🤗

My Mom used the pork & beans from a can & then added Ketchup, brown sugar & a little yellow mustard. I do the same, but omit the mustard. I sometimes sub maple syrup instead of br. sugar. We never mixed anything else in it, except for cut up hotdogs(already cooked), called beans & weenies. Hamburgers were separate entirely, topped according to each's taste( tomatoes, onions, ketchup, mustard, cheese).

My college roommate taught me his mother's hamburger and bean recipe in 1966. We fixed it often. We always used pork and beans and added a little chopped green pepper, a tablespoon of ketchup and a bit of chili powder. After browning the meat and veggies, we baked the dish in a Mexican bean pot for about 30 minutes. That was fancy dining for us!

Well, we never had hamburger and beans mixed together, but we did eat every kind of bean, and I loved them all. But a staple in our house was the hamburger gravy. We ate it over bread. We didn’t eat a LOT of BISCUITS, but we had them sometimes. My momma didn’t make slaw much, or salads. We did have chipped beef gravy over bread fairly frequently. Making me hungry for cornbread.

Ms. Tipper your cooking really takes me back home to my Virginia (Buchanan and Tazewell counties) Appalachian roots (I have lived in Florida now for 27 years, since I married, and I will 58 in July). My Momma used to make coleslaw with shredded cabbage, mayo, sugar, white vinegar, salt and pepper. I don't really the measurements, I just remember it and do it by taste. I've made the beans and hamburger dish many times and, like you, usually double the onions but I also add a tablespoon of brown mustard and couple squirts of ketchup. The tomato flavor really brightens up the taste. Then we pile the hamburger/bean mix, a thick slice of tomato, a slather of mayo and the slaw together on a bun, smush it down and devour! With a cob of butter-drenched corn and some pan fried potatoes, it's one of our favorite meals.

We call these cowboy beans. We live in a community rich with Mennonites and I learned the recipe from one of them. Our recipe calls for the hamburger, baked beans, green pepper, onion, brown sugar and a good squeeze of BBQ sauce. I put mine into the crockpot after I have browned the meat and let it sit on low all day. I usually choose the Bush’s Baked Beans with the maple & brown sugar and skip adding more brown sugar. I use Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce if I have it. We have never put ours on a bun, but that looks delicious. I would have added a good slice of cheddar on top of mine.

Hamburger and beans was a go-to quick meal for me all the years I was working. I add a little bown sugar, either some tomato paste or a couple squirts of ketchup and some squirts of worchestershire sauce, Lea and Perrins, to perk up the sauce the beans came in. Another meal, I substituted sliced hot dogs for the hamburger. My family used salad dressing sweetened with a little sugar, some mustard for tang and a few celery seeds to make cole slaw. Mom didn't like to cook very much, but could turn out servicable meals. One of her best was home made baked beans from scratch, that is, cooked dried beans sweetened with pancake syrup and tomato. I wouldn't have turned down an invitation to share the meal you showed us today, though!

When the beef is well cooked, I add a drained can of navy beans, one can of tomato sauce, 1/4 cup of dark brown sugar (more if you like it sweeter.) , a couple of tablespoons of mustard, and about 1/2-3/4 cup of ketchup. I bake it at 350 degrees until it is bubbly and brown around the edges.

Coincidentally, I made slaw last night to go with the frozen breaded fantail shrimp I cooked in my air fryer. I had picked up a small bag of shredded cabbage & carrots at Target (lucky find) and winged it making the dressing. I added olive oil mayo, a little apple cider vinegar, a littlr sugar, salt, pepper, and celery seed. It was sooo good! I've never had ground beef & beans but it looks good. Sloppy Joes was a favorite when my son was growing up. We had that every week. Wish I had some right now!!

I love watching what other people from different parts of the country eat and then I go and read the comments. So many great stories about peoples growing up and what they remember eating. I can still picture in my mind some things being brought out of the oven and how good they tasted...

Yum. My grandma used to make hamburger and baked beans together. Just ate it like that. Mixed in some ketchup and brown sugar. 😊

Here in SC my husband likes cabbage, Dukes mayonnaise fresh dice tomato, salt & pepper. Very simple and very good with our garden tomatoes. My midwestern Mom made a slaw dressing with Hellman’s a scant bit of sugar vinegar salt pepper also very good. It’s whatever you get used to eating😊

Hi Tipper - my Mom used to make this but she called it baked bean casserole (I also make it quite frequently) - the only additional thing she added was a cup of chili sauce and a tbsp of brown sugar -- it's delicious! Really enjoy your videos - much love from Toronto, Canada

My momma used to make what we called goulash but we made it out of plain pork n beans, add hamburger, onion, white shoe peg corn, and a little ketchup, salt and pepper to taste. It sounds gross I will admit but it’s so good with a pan of cornbread. As my momma used to say it will fill up an empty stomach, lol.

Thank you for a good wholesome/Christian educational entertainment. My wife and I live in northern Alaska, and we absolutely love watching your family. We called southeastern Tennessee home for many years before moving up here to pastor and teach.

Tipper I learned a cool trick to help cook potatoes faster and crisper. Put your baking pan in the preheated oven while preparing potatoes. The potatoes will sizzle when they hit the pan and toast up nice.

Love this dinner. We add cucumber to our slaw. I love watching all your videos (your girls videos too), but especially love your cooking ones. I would love it if you would make more cooking videos. Also I want you to know I think you and Matt raised two beautiful and amazing girls. They both are gonna make great mommas. I love how your family shows love to one another and y'alls love for the Lord shines through. Love you and your family. Please, more cooking videos. :)
