Considering the clogging and the amount of water required to withstall it, I'm guessing that paper and mesh are both more environmentally friendly and less of a pain.

Yeh way more environmentally friendly. It's actually not too hard to clean, I just run it under hot water and it cleans right up.

I have this same filter and have made 2 brews that have tasted great. I'm only concerned about the filter clogging over time. I've heard nightmare stories about this. The instructions say to put it over a gas stove to burn away the clogged coffee but other reviewers so far say it doesn't work. But even so that defeats the whole purpose of being an environmentally friendly filter. I would be curious how this filter works for you over time as well.

Yes I totally agree Pete! I'm just rinsing it quickly under the hot tap of the machine for now. I'll let you know how it goes over the next 1000 cups and see if there's a noticeable decline in sweet flavours or not.

Yes I think it might be difficult with your chemex, however the stand does fit on most cups so it might fit across the mouth of the chemex. I think it needs a Kruve to help reduce the fines which will make for a cleaner cup. I'll experiment with it more and find out. I do really love it though and I don't think it's a gadget as such but it might not be for the people chasing the best coffee flavours.

Great question! I should do a follow up video to it. Are you a super fussy v60 brewer? Ie: do you like it to be super precise? If so, this isn't for you. But if you're happy to sacrifice a little precision for the environment this is a great filter.
