What a great series. The cut away is so helpful to understand what is happenning in a 2 stroke and how porting works. Thank you!!!

This information absolutely cannot be covered too many times. No matter how many times I hear some of this stuff I either pick up something new or gain further confidence in what I already understand. I've been pouring over videos from you and ironhorse gearing up to do my first port job on my 2171 and there's no way I would have gotten to this point so soon if it weren't for you guys!

Sir, I wish I I could do more. I am a newbie to your channel. I have been a professional automotive transmission technician for the past 30 years but 2 stroke engine has baffled me. Your teaching style is superb. That cut away is awesome. You've given me the confidence to play with my own stuff. Here in North Carolina we have a lot of hardwood so I'm excited to try different things. I wanted to do more than like and subscribe. You've put a ton of time in making these videos and sharing your knowledge. Thank you Tinman. Danny T.

Thank you sir. Greatly enjoyed. ------------------------- The fuel detonation sends a shock wave downward through the piston rod and into the rotational mass below, which is designed to absorb enough rotational energy to push the piston back up for another fuel charge and subsequent detonation. Its a beautiful machine and thanks for slicing it open so well. ------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Brown 12.11.2022

Thanks for your advice, I cut and haul firewood in my small village in Alaska. 10 years ago I didn’t really know what I was buying, used old saws. My dad has a 046 mag, being that’s it is heavy and only using it only a couple times. I loved it. I went online and found a 044, that was my first saw I bought, sent it to a saw shop, kept it stock. Next was couple other saws, j-red 670, and a 346XP. This is all helpful. Thank you for being the human being you are in teaching.

Always good info in your videos. I've been watching you, Iron Horse and Belhopper for some time now and have done some amazing builds. One of my favorites is a 020AV that I did some crazy numbers on. I wasn't even sure if it would run decent or at all. Once I got it tuned in I found it was a mini monster. Thank you for your videos and being an awesome human. It's nice to have good teachers out there.

really fascinating stuff. gonna check out this man's entire cutaway series. got an old Husky 350 I found laying in my son in law's yard. asked for it and brought it home. got a real familiarilty with the 350 as it was the first saw I ever bought and worked on piston and cylinder were cashed so I am looking forward to replacing em. wish I woulda held off on purchasing the OEM and investigated the Hyway kit you featured in another vid of yours. got a few really beat up Echo climbing saws from my boss at the tree service. maybe I'll be able to get one good saw out of em. your vids are a wealth of info for knuckleheads like me

Do you have any videos about stuffing the crankcase? I've always read about people stuffing the crank case but now that I have watched this video it makes me believe too much crankcase stuffing could cause less fuel charge volume. I suppose its like you said with porting, you have to find the happy medium that works right for your engine.

Around the 8 minute mark when you're talking about measuring intake timing, you say you measure intake opening before / after bottom dead center. But you say it's 70 degrees for 140 degrees duration. It really looks like it's 70 degrees before / after top dead center, not bottom dead center. Also the intake open duration occurs while the piston is at the top of the cylinder, so it makes more sense that it would be measured that way anyway. Did you just mis-speak? I ask because I've heard other people say the same thing in videos. They're talking about the intake opening relative to BDC but that seems wrong compared to the numbers they give. Anyway, great video series. Thanks for making these.

Really great info, thank you. I'm going to try my hand at this on a 350 husqvarna with a hyway cylinder and popup piston. If I understand this correctly, a gasket delete, then raising the exhaust back to where it would've been before the delete, should give me more compression and bring the rpm back up from the delete. Does that seem like a good plan on a work saw? Is there any consequence to widening the ports as long as they are writing the piston skirts?

My man.. what an educational series you have made !! So am i anderstanding right, if i do the cilinder seal deletion ,,lets say(4 degrees longer intake ), and raise the outlet port accordingly, i get a noticeable better performance with the minimal fooling around to not completed destroying my saw? Of course keeping the squish hight in mind... Greetings of a ’’noob porter’’ from Belgium 😅

I have a 670 Echo and I love this saw cuts like a dream only thing that may be good or bad a rev limiter but Iam use to it so doesn’t bother me. And I put a longer bar and chain and I think it’s a 30” but not sure but it pulls tha chain no problem it’s a beast and it is two tone color a gray and a little bit of orange don’t know what that means and I was told that their commercial version but don’t know if that’s true and if you know let me know ?

Open at 70 and close at 70 means 140 closed I thought. Therefore duration of opening is 360 - 140 =220. Or am I wrong?

Any advice on a strato saw? 550/555 Husqvarna. Will removing crank stuffers decrease case volume but give more fuel which i expect take longer to reach max rpm. I have several 550 mk2 cylinders to play with. Any advice will be appreciated. Could I tunnel from intake to strato to ad fuel?

Very nice. Something that I have wondered is what sets the ultimate rpm that a saw/engine will spin out to. Typically the peak power is close to the top end of the revs so it seems to me if you can get more rpms you will get more power.
