I have an ideapad and althought I only use it at meetings or when I need to work out of my house, the screen is a disaster, the viewing angles are so bad that changing your point of view will change the colors dramatically for every inch you move. You can't show anything accurately to someone standing next to you, they'd see a whole different thing.

My experiences with other laptops tells me no. Higher resolution screen tends to use different connector

Hello, Be careful, the modification isn't as easy as the one shown on the video. The machine in the video seems to be a W540 and its interface is eDP. There is no problem to find eDP 14/15" IPS screens to replace the original one and the replacement is plug n'play. But on the T430, the interface is LVDS and there are no LVDS 14" IPS screens using that interface. You can do the replacement, but you'll need an adapter. It's difficult to find and the fiability is not the best there is (there can be display problems). And there is not a lot of place in the T430 to install the adapter. This mod is not really recommended. It would be better on a T430s, but again, be careful if you have a T430. W.

go to the lenovo parts website type your laptops product number in and it will give you all the parts that will work from there just copy a product number in to google for your new screen

@@hulian_36 yes you can, when laptops are made they have many deferent models and they are made to work with different resolutions . so yes you can upgrade the resolution and panel type when buying a new screen

On the subreddit of Thinkpads, the majority agreed that the IPS 1080p panel needs a 40-pin connector instead of the 30-pin connector. I was hoping he would change the connector too in the video!

I would not suggest to do so. There might be some models that uses the same display models, but drivers might cause problems.

@@qiaojiezheng5310 Yeah it's definitely something to be careful about, at least. I don't want to take risks but I can't find anything else that meets my needs/wants as well. MSI has nothing with Ryzen CPU & RTX GPU, and Sager has some good ones (looking at the NP7958F1) but no one reviews Sager and they offer no information about the battery. And the display actually has hope to upgrade, unlike CPU/GPU/battery.

@@tre1740 yes I did, now it's getting full HD resolution without any issues.

You need to know the number of pins in the connectors of the screen or if its a ribbon cable, then is just to know the measures of the new and old panel

I would suggest just go with the original specs. BIOS and other drivers might be written only for that screen, different specs might cause issue. Even if you have successfully installed and everything light up, that screen might still be running only at 60hz because there's no driver for that.

Yes, that's not a problem.

If you are not planning on upgrading the refresh rate to 120hz brightness control will work. It'll also work on the 120hz but you'll need to modify the BIOS and it's not recommend.

For that one, I just wanted a screen with a wider angle of view. If you want better image quality. you probably would want to check out the color coverage (like adobe RGB). For laptop screens, there isn't much you can choose from.

The 3K panel has a different connector, 40 pin I believe, and the 1080P one has 30 pin.

@@Revon-Feuer I googled it a bit, it looks like the bezels and the lid are also different. I am not sure if the driver and scaling would work fine after you change it.

I would love to find a oled one, but there isn't any aftermarket ones that I know. ips would give you the best quality for an old laptop.

Generally, stick with the same manufacturer. Even if you managed to swap it on, drivers might be a problem.

You might want to check the driver for that. Sometimes different hardware requires different driver. Incorrect drivers might cause malfunction of parts. Like not able to change the screen brightness.

@@qiaojiezheng5310 do you think it would be that hard? I have changed a 60hz panel for a 120 one on a msi gl62m, and I have encountered no problem, just had to disconnect the previous one, then wire the next one

I double there are any aftermarket screen that can support 144Hz. I don't think the connector can support that speed, you may also experience driver issues if you have successfully swapped that.

There's a option for matt finish, I just wanted something different.

As I know, very few aftermarket manufacturer makes high refresh rate screens.
