When you hold a camera up to your eye and look through the lens to the person beyond, their vulnerabilities are exposed. Sue Bryce was once a high-school dropout and is now a successful portrait photographer and founder of The Sue Bryce Education Library. She shares her journey from overcoming a lens of shame to having one of self-worth. SUE BRYCE is a proud Kiwi, a professional photographer, an educator and speaker born and raised in New Zealand. Sue has lived in Los Angeles for 7 years. With 30 years of experience, Sue Bryce is one of the most recognizable photographers in the imaging industry. Her contemporary portrait style transcends past stereotypes and has changed the face of portrait photography and photography businesses internationally. Bryce created her own ground-breaking educational platform in 2014, in which she uses her signature techniques to mentor and empower thousands of photographers and businesses around the world. In 2015 Bryce was greatly honored to be chosen to represent Canon USA in the Explorers of Light program. Sue Bryce Education is an online education community for contemporary portraits connecting to photographers globally through live broadcasts, videos, in-person workshops, and The Portrait Masters annual boutique conference.

When she said she did not finish high school I just wanted to cry. I too left high school at 16. I’m 26 now and i still let others shame me from not finishing. Especially being from a Salvadoran family. And the first born. They expected more of me. But I am working on getting my ged. Even if at slow pace. Still that’s enough…

My shame as a child was that I was slow, female and came from Irish working class. In fact at the age of 8 my school report was the piece of paper that wrote me off. I agree with what you said “question fear itself”. When I was in my 30’s I stopped writing myself off and nothing has stopped me since. My worth is not seeking someone else’s approval.

"The shame isn't your enemy. It's your guiding light to self-worth." "Learn a new way to perceive yourself. Learn a new way to present yourself to the world." "Understanding and rewriting our greatest shame. Our weakness. Our failure of character. The parts we most hate about ourselves. And bring them to light." "I found no physical barrier to success that was not created by me. And i truly believed there was. I empowered my greatest shame and it became my superpower." "You will be as successful as the amount of pain you are willing to endure. And the faster you accept the pain, the faster you move through it." "Money is value to self." "Bad people make money." "How do you rewrite the story? Come back to the present." "Do not numb this pain." "The antonym of shame is honor."

pain comes from resistance and non-acceptance of yourself abundance is a metric for worthy and worthless, not good and bad. success follows self-worth "the faster you accept the pain, the faster you move through it" "you are the poison and you are the antidote" disable avoidance fear is your old story talking, don't listen to it! declare what you want and obsessively focus on it EVERY SINGLE DAY the antonym of shame is honor you will never attract more than what you believe you are worth

@CentaurPress
@CentaurPress 7 ай бұрын
I thought a “how” was to stay with your feelings. Don’t avoid them. I know that I have often numbed my pain instead of being with them. It is like the saying, the only way to get over something is through it . That’s what I got out of it🤷.

Theoretical perspectives are the basic assumptions about how society functions, the role of sociology, and the application of a specific set theories in studying social life. -- Society is a unified whole that seeks equilibrium -- Society is composed of groups competing for scare resources -- Social life can be measured through observing daily interactions -- Sociology should be used to enact social change -- Sociology should be value free
