/ projectsbybrian I'll be doing some changes to the shop in the next couple of weeks as I have the PrintNC on order. Here is a link to the PrintNC website for those interested (no affiliation): threedesign.store/

I was just thinking about doing an MPCNC... I am really looking forward to seeing you build the PrintNC and compare them. I've got a high school shop class that might make/use one.

i get you, i have an mpcnc too and just started building a indymill, which is also a more ridgid mill, so mpcnc is a good start, but you want more after some time, but i would not have been without my mpcnc, im giving mine to my brother to start his journey in cnc

I can fully understand the desire for a different machine. I built my MPCNC at the start of lock down and have gotten an initial feel for what's involved with using a CNC router. I've also decided that I'm ready for something more rigid and at a different level. I've been thinking about buying the parts and making one using plywood. I'll have to check out the PrintNC and will be looking forward to your videos. I haven't decided if I want to sell my MPCNC because I'm not sure if it would be worth much and exactly which parts to sell. If you have any details of how you do that, I would be interested in that as well.

@@ProjectsbyBrian Ya, that makes sense. Unfortunately, I'll probably just disassemble it and put all the bits in a box and then steal from it for other projects.

What issues are you facing with the MPCNC that make you want to upgrade? In other words, whare are you not able to do? I currently building a Primo so I'd like to know what to expect. Thank you!

@@ProjectsbyBrian Thanks for the thoughtful response. Will be following your PrintNC build.

I’m building a primo right now. I’m currently stuck on the electronics. What do you use for a controller? Break out board? Software you use. I tried to go with a sain smart usb Mach 3 controller, with 5 tb6600s, but I cannot get the Mach 3 plugins to work and there’s no support with sain smart. I just want to get the CNC up and running

I ended up using an old board from my Ender 3 with some tweaks to the firmware. I had damaged the extruder motor driver so I'm just using X,Y and Z with the motors wired in series. The unit also uses a power supply and other bits from the Ender that I've replaced as I upgraded the printer.

@@ProjectsbyBrian would I be able to use an Ardunio Mega and a ramps board for the same affect? $170 seems a bit much for the Rambo

@@ProjectsbyBrian damn, I would 100% need the dual end stops as I would want to be able to reliably home and repeat commands. It’s a difficult decision trying to choose the correct board for me
@goonboi72923 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectsbyBrian are there any other boards that you know of that would support the dual end stops/homing and also a touch plate? I’m not really finding a whole lot that meets my parameters. Thanks for the all the info

I am currently building a primo based around an SKR v1.4 turbo which is cheap and can use 5 drivers. I have managed to home using dual endstops even though my machine is not yet complete. I am pretty sure this board will work just fine ( needs some code tweaking in marlin though).

Just found your channel browsing r/printnc Looking forward to your build. Subscribed! ...still wondering how such machines are possible using the wrong measurement system aka imperial.... ;-)

I just tore down my MPCNC yesterday and chucked all the 3d printed parts. Kept the 2.2kw spindle, steppers and rambo board and will re-purpose them for something else. Getting rid of it because I just built the chassis for a new CNC machine that is based on the design by Radikult (Mario). Still need to purchase the clearpath NEMA 23 steppers and all of the supporting electronics but will do that in the next month or so. Right now the chassis weighs about 250 lbs and it fabricated from mostly 20mm aluminum plate and 80x160 aluminum extrusions and uses hiwin linear rails.

@@ProjectsbyBrian I did yes, I think it worked ok. it was a bit heavy for sure and my Z axis travel speeds had to be on the lower end or I'd lose steps, especially on the retract. Also I had to go to a 2mm pitch leadscrew or the whole thing would just crash to the bottom when there was no power to the stepper.
@K9Megahertz3 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectsbyBrian Haha, I ended up buying a 50 foot length of 10 gauge 4-wire cable and some NEMA 14-30 plugs and getting a clothes dryer splitter cable and running it off that.

@@ProjectsbyBrian Nice! Should be all set then. =) Yeah I live in an apartment so I'm kinda limited in options, if i had a house, I'd be adding some dedicated circuits.
