Cheap drift tire challenge #2: Westlake SA-07 vs Ironman iMove Gen II AS

We have an unexpected winner this time around, but did they have the gusto to take down the Kendas? Who will win this cheap tire challenge? The Westlake SA-07 or the Ironman iMove Gen II AS? Comment with what tire I should try next!
Both tires are under 150 shipped, 225/40/18, both are on stock 350z wheels, both are inflated to 25psi. I ran the same version of the track, 2 different ways as many times as I could before the tire or car failed.
Keep in mind, these tires would have lasted even longer if I didn't do back to back to back laps and gave them time to cool off.

Learned a long time ago not to spend $400 bucks on a tire if you run them hard . Popped a front tire last night - Getting a set of iMoves today only because that's the only tires my local shop can get on Sat - Labor day weekend .. So, Was happy to see this video. Thank you Dan!

I think I'm gonna pick up a full set of Westlake's for my Benz. I was surprised they have a Y speed rating which means they have been tested for >180 mph. Walmart has my size for less then $58 a tire.

I have the Westlake tires on my GTI since July 3rd. Only good things to say about them. I wanted the top of the line but a friend suggested these SA-07. No regrets ! And the price ! So sweet !

Nankang NS-series. I've been running the NS20 but got wind that it may be discontinued and replaced with the NS25. I would be interested to hear your opinion on them!

Dan my rim is 19”x8.5 and 19”x9.5. Was thinking of using west lake Tyres 225/40/19 n 245/40/19 for daily driving in summer weather.. would you recommend this ?

I don't know if you can get them over in the Land of the Free but in Western Australia we get Powersports 265/35/18 semi slicks for 88$/ea! Might be a bit too much grip for the Z but they don't delam, are very grippy and i love running them on my Toyota Chaser. Something to look into for your S13 maybe :)

I would say the Westlake since they have .25 inch more height and would be a little easier to stretch!

Please try the Ohtsu FP7000, seriously they are falken ziex 329's with a different name stamped on them and they are cheap. Like I get them for 60 - 70 shipped each for my cars. And they have excellent grip and dont delaminate and seem to last a good long while.

I have ROCKSTAR TR969 (I believe it is) on my car currently they are pretty grippy. I'm curious on the General G-MAX AS-03 and a tire that has similar tread pattern as the AS-03 that is made by TRI-ACE. Hopefully this will give you at least 3 different tires to look at.

Doesn't seem like I can get the Rockstars here in the US. The Generals are a bit too pricey (100 per tire), and the tri-ace carreras I can get and are in the price range though! Added

I got the Rockstar TR936 through a local performance shop and all I know is they get them from a warehouse in Atlanta I believe.

Tryout neo gen tires and see how many laps you can get. Cause I got some used ones and they lasted me 2 events! Let me know what you think and post a video

How would both of these do on 20s on a fast 2015 camaro? Balance and feel? Traction?

Ohhh not sure. Different sizes react different for sure. 20s should in theory last longer due to heat dispersion

I'd recommend going up to the firehawk indy 500s for that much power. Little more money, but I would say safer lol

Should do a re-run with the Kendas KR20 with the engine cooled off, the Kendas also look like they still held up their tread patterns very well even with all that heat

@@Officer_Dan Most drift on used tires, in gutted buckets. Mabye a trailer tire with a good rep would be a better option over dry rotted left overs.

nice vid! i was just pricing out these same model westlakes for my daily driver. they lasted you up to 14 laps under some severe driving. how long do some of the higher priced/name brand tires last you?
