Better performance with the cheap build. A second slower is no big deal considering the better results on target.

We did consistently use the basic setup second, so I’m sure that had an impact. Still impressive how close they were though

Have a Delton A2 style HB rifle upper. Didn't want to shell out close to 2 G's for a M16 style upper. Good upper for the price paid. Only downside is mine came with a chamber defect. The chamber reamer cut too deeply in the chamber and left two spots lines that balloon in the brass. Not really an issue but worth mentioning. Seems every firearms company is having QC issues these days. Can't seem to get a new production Mossberg 500 to work out of the box anymore. Sad state we find ourselves in

Agreed… most of the big companies can’t make anything quality anymore. Winchester ammo has gone way down hill too

My first AR was a Delton and it shot great from the get go . About any 55 and 62 gr ammo I tried shot at 3/4 to inch and a half at 100 . I don't recall ever having a malfunction with it and it has a few thousand rounds through it .

I’ve been very impressed with Delton products for the cost. This one has some finish issues, but that’s pretty low on my priority list.

I set up a couple of these "Cheapest functional AR" builds, with the intent of something I can give to a friend in an emergency and not really care if I get it back. And came to pretty much same conclusion, the slick, super lightweight guns are really a great platform which are 90% as capable as guns 2-3x the price. I'm planning on doing an "optimized lightweight" build with 14.5 or 16" bbl. and a primary arms 3x prism next to see how light I can get it.

I’ve thought that if I do this again, I may do a 3x prism and attach a cheap and lightweight light somehow.

@@8mmmauserman Ive only played around with this a little, but if you mount a PA 3x prism on an absolute co-witness AR mount, you can use a super tall mounted micro-red dot immediately in front of it and the prism scope will "look through" the legs of the red dot, giving you a stacked 1x/3x sight system.
