Used with no warranty and high maintenance cost, to a new with warranty with basically maintenance free for 2 year's that will exceed everything mentioned in reliability performance and cost.

Sorry but Nope. NSX is just outdated. Old Ferrari and Lambo will drag you into Maintenance hell and costs you tons to fix their random issues as they broke more than old lady on a staircase. R8 is the only thing that can consider an alternative but you will need tons of mods and get a good used one and at that point a brand new c8 is just better buy.

With the right mods the nsx looks killer, as for the lambo issue , easy become a lambo mechanic and repairs become less expensive

@Abdulla Ali Agree with everything except, Lambo sold a TON of G's and they are considered by far the most reliable Lambo's ever made. In addition, many parts can be interchanged with Audi parts. So if you can get a stock, clean low mileage example, and are the kind of person that will keep it mostly stock and not drive the crap out of it everyday, it's not a bad choice, especially if you want something that will turn heads. Within a year, C8's will be everywhere, and despite being mid engine will just be another Corvette you see 10 of a day. Also, repair costs will be much higher than C7's, and being 1st gen. that could result in hefty repair bills once the warranty runs out. I'm a Corvette owner with no interest in turning heads, and I also like new tech. Hence a C8 will be in my future, maybe 2 or 3 years from now when more is known about them and I can get a used one cheap.

I agreed with you guys but Supra is tunable at the moment. The full fledged C8 is 75k and for that money I rather get used V10 lambo. Beside these cars are not going to depreciate like a rock. I own both Corvette /viper and the alternative are for those who wanted to step up. It's not for everyone.

@@93mlo NSX will hold value because post-Paul death Fast & Furious hysteria has caused all 90s Japanese performance cars to skyrocket in value, Gallardo is not really a collectible with movie heritage, if reliability & maintenance shows it holds up better than Ferrari, it will probably hold its value. If it can appear in an iconic movie the collector value will skyrocket.

Honestly it already has look at competing cars. The only company that doesnt have to worry in all honesty is McLaren considering Chevy and McLaren are partners I heard a rumor McLaren is helping with the C8 zora. The one that's gunna be a 1200hp hybrid. Itll have both of the companies indy car tech. But that's just rumor. Chevy and McLaren have been partners in motorsport since the 60s. The Chassis and tech have always been built by McLaren and powered by chevy motors. If you go on McLaren's website and scroll to the bottom where they have the sponsors and partners Chevy is right there

If you want cheap performance, hard to beat a C5Z. You can buy them all day for around 20K. The only thing not cheap are tires, but you would have that anyway.

Some risky, low performance choices man. The early R8 5.2 would make my list too. Here are some others: 2012+ GT-R 2013+ Viper 2015+ C7 Corvette Z06/Z07 2013+ Porsche 911 S 2018+ 718 Boxster/Cayman GTS Bonus: BMW i8 for the flex I personally own the C7 Z06/Z07 and I’m sticking to it. MANUAL transmission....carbon ceramic brakes that need 20 feet less to stop from 70 mph, 1.2 Gs of grip and much faster besides for the launch. Check car and driver testing for the numbers.

Initial costs yes. A year or two of ownership and you will be near financial suicide for a garage queen. They do look good on the flatbeds traveling from the driveway to repair facility.

Nsx need clutches all the time . We had to put one in after 6000 miles when I worked at honda. But otherwise one of the greatest cars of the era. Also Brad keep up the great work.

You don't want a used exotic lambo or anything really. First off, this vette will destroy a gallardo and won't break everyday and cost 20k a year to maintain. Also, i was a teen in the 90s and still refuse to call the nsx a supercar What makes it one? 0 to 60 in 5 seconds? A vette of the time could best that. Top speed 160? Cars of that time were faster then that.

Back around 2011 2012 I looked at NSXs. They were going for mid 20s to low 30s. What a great deal, it's a shame their value has doubled since. I will buy an Audi R8 4.2 with the gated manual in about 5 years, that's my attainable dream car.

Many of you are surprised how is he comparing new to old (probably all kids). If you guys were real car enthusiasts, this wouldn't surprise you. In 5 years your C8 will cost $30k while the NSX will be at $100k. Your C8 will be one in thousands while NSX will be rare JDM masterpiece. It's not as simple as 'new is better'

1) all of these are used cars with no warranty, 2)aside from the NSX, none of the remaining are reliable & are veritable money pits to maintain. The NSX new was $60k-$65k, so it held its value fairly well. I'd take the c8.

I do have to say this though. If I had an extra $60 laying around to drop on a TOY not a daily driver, that I was looking to restore and keep. Then I'd look at one of these. Down the road some of them could become collectables, though finding a low mileage unmolested version maybe near impossible. But so far as a serious purchase, that I'd actually have to drive every day? Vette hands down. As a matter of fact that's the reason I got my 19 Z06 with a manual. I knew it was going to be the last manual Corvette, and wanted it over the 20 automatic. In 20 years when all cars are basically auto/ dual clutch or whatever, my Vette will increase in value as it becomes even more rare, being one of the last front engine, rear drive manual transmission monsters. Winning!

Great video I love these cars but they are used and older were that vette is brand spankin new for 60k. But i could definitely see getting that lotus its an ageing super hero. You will turn every head that sees it. Id be so terrified to own a lambo what would the maintenance be on that ouch. Now that acura sleek and sexy. Awesome video

spending that much on an old NSX would hurt, unless it was a JDM Honda NSX Type R... And the 4 cyl. Lotus, how could there be any honor with 4 banger when I the V8 Turbo would be so much better...I have seen James May drive one across Argentina with no mechanical issues other than a local mob smashing it up.

That gallardo on the thumbnail may be a little bit cheaper than a c8 but the insurance and cost if maintenance is going to be much higher. Not to mention a new chevy is going to be a LOT more reliable than an older lamborghini (with higher miles more than likely) Also with a newer car (the c8) your going to get the benefit of newer technology to improve the experience of driving. Just imo

Autoblog are saying the non Z51 performance packaged C8 will get up to 194mph and the C8 with it only 184mph, but faster initial acceleration, though maybe not in the 1/4 mile. It could be close in the 1/4 mile between the two. It'd be nice to see a road test between the two, back to back. The non C8 Z51 package will also get better fuel economy, won't be so much wear on the clutch if it is used more for low down acceleration, you won't be stuck with a set of Summer tyres either that with repetitive fast acceleration will soon wear out. And most probably requiring another set of the all season ones for bad weather, with changing over the tyres, or even for convenience the purchase of new wheels to put the spare set of tyres on. We know most C8 buyers are set on the Z51 package but MAYBE THEY SHOULD RECONSIDER. It'd be $5000 plus state sales tax, that's a national 7% average, so $5350 then on average. That $5.35k is half the cost of a Supercharger when the warranty has run out, should one fit. Depends on whether it is the car to keep for an age and a day, and the difference in resale value and ease of sale. If 20% of folks initially have the non Z51 performance packaged C8 maybe that'd also be it's ratio years later on in the used market, the others being more plentiful. The cheapest of the cheapest 1LT C8 may always have a desirability for those with limited funds who cannot afford to purchase new, who want to buy a used model and want to mod it up themselves for $10k with a supercharger to be almost on par with a C8 Z06 (top speed anyway, maybe 210mph) for a great deal less than $80k+ new. I'd certainly consider if the Z51 performance package was the best way to go.

Hmmmm 🤔 Ferrari for $64k 0-60 in 4.5 seconds vs. C8 for $60 with warranty and 0-60 in under 3 seconds..... so more for less...

All of the cars mentioned with the possible exception of the Acura are maintenance cost nightmares. Even when new, even more used. Bottom line the Corvette is the way to go and I would not get the first generation unless I was a collector. Most issues are found in the first generation and sorted out in the following generations.

Just admit it the c8 has no competition in it's category and a new car just feels and smells special and it wont make you go bankrupt like a ferrari or lambo will and the nsx looks old as all hell

Agree with the other guy that made the comment about maintenance going to take you maintenance to hell pocketbooks timing and a handle that the only car that's good on here was the R8 the rest trash in terms of maintenance
