Fun fact: Babka in Polish is not only "grandmother" (it's actually rare to call your nana like that, it's rather an antique word used in official language), but also it means bundt cake. It is not a type of pastry/cake/sweet chocolate bread, but a shape. It can be a sweet cake or for example potato babka (mashed spuds with bacon) or meaty one with minced beef. I highly recommend learning Polish and checking out recipies online ;)

The Poke kit might be more desirable here in North America, as sushi-grade fish is sometimes harder to find, and the standard frozen fish here is not recommended for raw consumption. Even now I feel like anything labeled "Sushi grade" that isn't sold in a high-end grocery store (which almost certainly marks it up ridiculously) is dodgy af.

Has he tried taking lactase enzymes? I'm really lactose intolerant but I love diary products. Take one (they work better if you crunch them in your mouth first I've found) before consuming lactose and it works really well. Make sure to check the info for the strength, I use ones that are 9,000 ALU (if you can only find ones that are half that strength, just simply take two). As long as I'm not having like 3 meals of diary in the day, I rarely get any stomach issues.

It's a little different than food kits, but a restaurant that opened up near me about 2 years ago called Carmi started doing more buffet style cooking where they gave out plates and plates and plates full of wonderful, exceptionally made soul food. They have two restaurants in Pittsburgh, and I am lucky to work a block away from one; and before this started they had tons of people eating there, sometimes having live music on the weekends. It's so awesome to see the people that own and operate it come in to town, make a grand name for themselves, and continue to help others and the people that work for them with everything going on. Every chance I get to recommend them to someone, I always do. The whole family are wonderful, gracious people, and they care for those around them so much.

If you're a new cook and a bit nervous this can be a great place to start and you can expand your knowledge and skill and become comfortable in cooking and even a more experienced cook can learn things.

I love the idea od meal kits. Although while we were in senior thesis for my culinary science degree we made them but quickly found out that shipping is a hard thing to deal with. Logistics, price, etc. so it's incredible that local places are willing to try to make these to spread their foods!

It doesn't solve all those problems, but platforms like Shopify have made it possible for a lot of these companies to provide kits like this or spin up little online shops. It's pretty cool to see.

@offthesidelines

@@PandaCatXD the funny thing is most westerners I've heard say wakame (and keep in mind that I am Asian, I'm also Canadian) have pronounced it pretty accurately - whether they were saying it in English... or in French (although you're more likely to have the right pronunciation in the latter I guess lol)! Ben is one of the rare persons I've heard say it in SUCH an English way and it's even more amusing when you also remember that he's a certified and professional chef who seems to have a decent enough grasp on Japanese cuisine. Plus wakame isn't that hard to find nowadays in western countries, particularly if you live in or around a big city, like the Sorted boys do. I'm actually surprised no one on the crew noticed? Like do they all mispronounce wakame? 😆

@@micahsymons4291 think a video about Kosher requirements or substitutes would be interesting - no pork, no shellfish and no mixing of meat and dairy as the key points, maybe an episode looking into the rules and how you can maie changes, and then an ultimate battle to create a kosher 'bacon cheeseburger' or other such food I dont know much about halal beyond no pork or alcohol ao I dont have any ideas, but that just proves it would also be nice to learn more about it in a future vid!

@@aaronconway4435 would LOVE to see a mainstream cooking channel take on kosher properly. Whilst the market is obviously tiny, it'd be a huge challenge for them and take them completely out of their comfort zones. Plus, you know, we might be able to actually make something without substituting a bunch of ingredients for once ;)

Nothing changed here in Melbourne. Restaurants that weren't doing delivery before aren't doing delivery now, and restaurants that were doing delivery before haven't changed their menus. There's certainly no fun extras going on. Despite the massive increase in demand.
