Delicious cherry turnovers or hand pies, using an easy rough puff type pastry. The juicy cherry filling packs in the flavour to accompany the buttery pastry.

I thought I'd written a message but doesn't seem to be there.. So I will go again...🙄 These, look tasty GEOFF.. YOU ARE THE MASTER of pastry,,,,, mine is always hit and miss.. So I may cheat. With ready made puff pastry... Weather is perfect for me sunny but not too hot I love the late spring..don't you 🌞.🌸🌴So Hope you are haveing a. Nice weekend 👌❤️

Hi Henrietta. I am always a bit nervous when doing puff or rough puff type pastry. But, luckily, it usually turns out ok. Shop bought will work well too though. It's supposed to be warm and a little sunny here today. I do enjoy the slightly warmer weather so it's perfect for me at this time of year. Have a nice weekend.

Hello Geoff, it’s been a while since I left a comment. I’ve been watching and giving you a thumbs up though. I haven’t been baking much lately because everyone is watching their intake of carbs. I find that I end up eating more than I should! I’ve been busy in the garden pulling weeds and dead heading my flowers. My garden is looking beautiful this year because of all the rain we got this winter. (In California) Today it is overcast and it will only reach 70 degrees. Perfect! Your pies turned out lovely. Thanks for giving us 2 videos a week. You are so dedicated and we all appreciate you.

Hi Jean. Welcome back to commenting. I should watch my carb intake as well, but I don't LOL. Gardening is therapeutic, so I am glad yours is doing well. 70 degrees is just what I like, any warmer and I get uncomfortable.

Made these ffor the family they liked them. Quick tip I find a pizza wheel good for cutting and portioning pastry😊

How fabulous uncle geoff , we procured a tray of cherries from aragon . This may help to eliminate the platoons in the box ...looks ever so nice for the four o clock cuppa

Hi Susannah. Thanks very much. Oh yes you can use almost any fruits. I prefer to use frozen fruits since they release all that juice, and they are cheaper than fresh fruits.

Hi Geoff. There is a bit of work, but it is worth it as homemade pastry tends to taste so much better than shop bought.

We are planning to visit Auntie Godfreya later in the nursing home ...she enjoyed her cherries .. she would love your savoury delghts here . May give further instruction as was her nature . Uncle Percy avoids such trips as he is hen pecked quite alot and has abundant fear of been carted in to the nursing home . Is fesr is the assault on his his pipe smoking. A meal is not complete without the pipe .

Hi David. I have never tried that, so I am not sure how it will turn out. But I did find a video of someone making at oat flour puff pastry, but it didn't show how the pastry baked.

Yes as I mention on my blog in North America they are known as hand pies, hence my inclusion of that name as well.

Hi Liverbird. I hope you enjoy the banana bread. I would recommend a block of puff pastry, since you can roll it out larger than the ready rolled one.
