I just love this opening, especially when white plays 7 pawn moves in a row. I had it many times and always come out better or winning. Thanks for sharing your analysis once again, much appreciated.

I love these "non-typical" openings.... unlike Italian game, Sicilian or French defense( which are much more common) openings like these are nearly impossible to strategize against. A lot of times there are ideas and tactics that the engine won't get, understand or will misread. Outstanding video Miodrag! #BigMio #ModernDayTal

I tend to play the Portuguese or Icelandic gambit in the Scandinavian. I love the agression the game allows. Great analysis. Any type of gambits against the French and/or Caro Kann?

I fearlessly welcome the Portuguese gambit as white! I had the book on it, and all I remember was that it said f3 g4 gives white best chances. I prepped a bunch of engine lines and I get good results. It's how I reached my peak rating online 2280!

Have you posted the moves of your game with Nigel Short that you mention? @8:15 It's not clear to me when and why he played Nh3-f4, if I heard you right.

I've been studying and playing the Portuguese for about a year. I started creating my own study of it using a super computer server to analyse and I unfortunately found several lines that aren't shown anywhere where white is absolutely better. Now I'm not sure what to do ha ha... do I share it or keep it a secret!?!
