Don't get me wrong - I like my fully-laden (except leather) 2006 Focus ST - but some extras are really pointless, break-down easily - and cost a fortune to repair. Electric tailgates may be useful to impress the neighbors - but if that's the main purpose of your car - you got more pressing matters to deal with.... The facelift-focus ST/RS (here in Germany from 2008 onwards) has keyless. You don't need a key - neither do the thieves. In particular the RS (really good ones go for +30k €) is a car you have to chain to a lantern post - like a bicycle. Mine still has a conventional key+steering lock - they rarely get stolen.

The tailgate can be controlled from inside or the remote as well. You can close it by hand and it is sprung so it feels very light and is quite easy to close. I have neck and back issues and like the ease and being able to carry something away from the truck and then close it with the remote. The mirrors also fold in and out with the remote or button on the door. I have the same truck but in a long bed and with all the addons and have come to like all the creature comforts. I must have a nice riding truck for work that is heavier than a half ton and also wanted some luxury. For $76k out the door, it might as well have one more electronic item........everything else is on the truck. It is nice and I have an extended warranty as I'm sure it won't be cheap if electronics fail on this truck. People who don't want all the features can buy a WT or LT model and save a bunch of money.

530K-kms is about average life from that autobox, maybe a bit above average. GX470 has the same driveline as the same year V-8 4Runner, and parts are readily available and not terribly expensive. Since the 4.7L V-8 will go 2X that distance with care, and the body looks great, if the frame is also rust-free, it's worth sinking $2K into a reman trans.

The Lexus GX470 which is what that is, it a Toyota Prado every where else in the world and shares many common drive train features with the 4runner. They are actually relatively easy to work on and if you have a trust worthy mechanic, as expensive as a Toyota to work on. The main thing that people have issues with on their GX’s is actually the air suspension in the rear going out. As for that example in the video, it seemed like it wasn’t super well cared for and makes sense that the trans went out. Crazy because it still got 330,000 plus miles!

@Pollock Pines Community Church The 4th gen 4Runner was offered with either a V6 or a V8. The V6 is part-time 4WD while the V8 is full-time 4WD exactly like the 470. I believe the LC Prado 120 was imported into the US and rebadged as the Lexus GX470 and then that same chassis was used to make the 4th gen 4Runner and the FJ Cruiser. So, some 4Runners do share that exact same drivetrain with the 470.

I was thinking the same. No reverse means they probably slammed it back and forth trying to get traction and they blew a gear. There’s probably a puddle on the ground somewhere and metal chunks in their T-case.

Um AC and cruise control and any traction features and ABS of its a truck all the same except I like 4 wheel drive on a truck. Other then that I don’t need all this other fancy crap it’s not practical I’d rather have more features that make the truck car run better then have features I don’t need

This is an LTZ, second to highest trim of the Chevy. People like you should buy the WT or LT trim. I have the same truck but in a long bed and it has all the upgrades of the High Country (top of the line model) added to the LTZ package. I like the electric tailgate and the truck is extremely nice to tow and haul with. These features may not be practical for you, buy you are not everyone. Before this truck, I daily drove my 79 C20 for work.......for many years. I'm glad I bought one of the nicest trucks out there........I also bought an extended warranty to cover all the nice electronics.

Had a new 4x4 pickup once, the worst stripe job received was from within a paved parking lot, someone appears to have not liked the newness, color or both, line striped it down to metal with a key, coin or other sharp thin object. No sense in having something too nice looking, unless you park in a garage and don’t drive it. Thanks for the excellent video commenting Matt.
