Chevy K20 - Interior door panel painting with truck bed paint

After some thought I tried painting the door panels with truck bed paint. They are slightly abrasive but they looks great!

They look awesome...I love the wood arm rest / handle...don't ever remember the real wood but after seeing yours next truck I do I'm going to make a set like them...don't get any better building your own truck...Makes it your truck and not somebody else's...Have a great day...

I just did an 83 Sierra card and did black red and silver trim. Same card, looks great!

You dont brush on stain. You apply it with a rag.

Door panels came out super nice! And wow you still have a list of things too do. Sitting on this side of the camera it looks like do the interior and drive it.. Nice job brotha!

I used krylon plastic paint and acrylic for the trim and did 3 layers of clear. But I had to sand really deep as well!

I dont see anyone trying to use rite dye on these. Might give it a try, worse case I paint them anyways.

Dunno if your local Autozone has them on clearance too but yesterday I picked up two mirrrors for $15.97/piece. Part # MI-023

I tried all kinds of stuff on my door panels what sux if it scratches it shows the color underneath looking good tho how she holds up

It looks really good, but I know it's going to discolor as soon as something touches them. Was thinking about maybe plasti-dip, or some other type of sealer, any Ideas?

Hey Dave, I was watching some of your videos from the past and noticed that Fan you found for the K20 was perfect for spacing in the OEM shroud. I know you said you found it on an S10 but all the S10 fan clutches I look up are the same as the LM7 motors and according to Hayden they mount at the same depth. Is there a way you can look it over for any identifying part #'s when time permits. Love the Videos and the tips!

Hey Robert, thanks for letting me know. When I was as the wrecking yard last time I noticed that the ford expeditions were right next to the S10 row. I did notice that the expeditions had a longer fan clutch, I searched online tonight and it looks like this is a fan / clutch from a 98-02 expedition. Let me know if you come up with the same conclusion. Thanks for watching and the commenting. If you find the same results I will let other know on the next Q&A video.

Not sure if it will matter but I double checked that and it says it is a reverse rotation unit. Not sure if that will affect anything but if you get it running and are having cooling issues that might be your problem. Might just be a matter of swapping the plastic fan part I think.

A little late but does any paint stick really well? I’ve got an 86 ford that needs painting on the top of the door panels but I’d like to keep the red color for the interior.

As long as it's prepped well, you shouldn't have too much of an issue. Mine has held up well in other vehicles.
