But how does the rocker arms be torque down do you just torque them down or got to position the cam to tdc ? Or its just like out them on and torque them to spec?

I just completed mine with the help of your video, great job. I have a couple friends that worked at Chevy. They made a good point to make sure where the head bolts go into are COMPLETELY dry. If not, any water, coolant in the holes will expand and crack the block. They have seen it plenty of times. I would of never even thought of that. Use lots of air and make sure they are DRY.

Perfect. I’m used to doing my own work and rather than send to a professional who will take shortcuts and eventually fail prematurely. I will do it myself and only blame myself if anything happens. It’s a great time to freshen the heads, add heavier duty springs, rocker, maybe a set of headers. Thank you for a great video

Reviewing your video for head gasket process, I notice something that might help you which I learned when I did intake manifold gaskets a few years ago. When the wiring harness is hanging in the way of the intake - I used bungee cords to pull it out of the way and it worked great. It was hovering above the engine and I had plenty of clearance for the manifold.

@@vampirel1983 You won't know unless you take the block in as well but being that the block is cast iron(?) I believe and the heads are aluminum it's much more likely for the heads to develop a warp/imperfection than the block.

Update*** Again, Thanks for making this video, it really helped me out! This video helped me out a lot but I had 1/64 the luck you had. Thanks for making this video. Took about 15 hours. I snapped the heads off all the exhaust bolts, had to sawzall 1 of 3 exhaust bolts to get the passenger exhaust manifold off(no possible to get the driver side manifold off, dip stick housing thing came right off after I unbolted it from the head (still dont know how I'm getting that out), my coolant cross over ( which went under the intake manifold and to the back of the motor) crumbled to pieces, the knock sensors turned to dust. I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 5.3l 150,850 miles. Got the motor cleaned up and all back together, runs great. I used enginetech remanufactured 862 heads, new head bolts, miele multilayer steel head gasket, updated throttle body gaskets and replaced a lot of other parts

My only complaint is the following since you had the heads off already. It would’ve been a good time to change the lifters even though nothing was wrong with them. It would’ve been cheaper to just get that out-of-the-way and change them because they are notorious for lifter problems. And second, you should’ve just changed the push rods as well, even though they look good they don’t cost that much but other than that, it was good video

I get this was done a long time ago, but if you guys are still around, I did this job got everything back together, I started the engine but it immediately stalled. Did some research, and found a number of things it could be, but what would you guys think is a possible issue?
