The body mounts on my 02 silverado had rotted and collapsed.
This happened just before winter so I needed a quick and cheap fix. I was unable to find a replacement. All the steel was scrap pieces that were laying around. I created a second vid for the other side mount with a more permanent fix. • Chevy truck body Mount...

Dude, thank you so much for doing this, I've got something similar going on with my truck(with winter coming as well) and this is just the ticket. Also, thank you for posting a video of a regular guy working on his back in the driveway like 95% of us instead of tricked out shop with every tool under the sun. Way to keep it simple and no music, just the work.

next time use ridged paper from dollar store to make your side templates then trace it on your steel plate and then youll have a 1 piece bracket, will save you a ton of work and much stronger with a perfect fit

hey this video is quite old, but I have a 98 ext cab Chevy s10 4x4, I have a similar issue to yours, however its not the mount that collapsed, it is the bar welded on the bottom of the cab, where the cab mount goes on my driver side front has rotted through, is there a way to box/repair it ? or is a new cab required do you think ?

I wish my rear cab mounts were my problem, but I couldn’t get that lucky. My front ones are doing this and it has ended up ripping the mounting tabs on my front fenders and pushing the fenders down so it always looks like the hood is open too…

Like really killer idea I'm going out to rig something up I just dnt have a welder and dnt weld so that limits me I think I'll do the same you did and ware you drilled holes I'll just bolt it in. My mount isent as bad as yours is and really only need a big washer and it would be fine I think

Hello, I tried to find the video of you removing the bolt of the cab mount that snapped off . Did those sockets get the bolt out? I have the same problem on my 99 chevy blazer on the front cab mount. There is no access to the top of the cab mount, they sealed it in metal. Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure of the location of the body mounts in your blazer. In some vehicles you can pull back the carpet and cut a small access hole in the floor right above the body mount.

I can’t remember what brand it was but I think it was just some generic high speed steel bit. The trick is learning how to sharpen them yourself then you can make any drillbit great. Good luck with your truck thanks for watching!

Nice job, just 1 thing. I noticed all the splatter after u were done with fabricating the bracket. If ur flux welding and ur welder can do both flux core and or argon, switch ur polarity and you will get a much better weld
