2 things I miss. Italian sausage thin crust Chicago pizza and Britney on Chicago's Best! Both now classics. BUT I can still get the pizza! They need to have Britney do a guest spot from time to time.

What a great pizza tavern. It reminds me of Red's Savoy Pizza 421 E. 7th St. Saint Paul, MN. that we lost a little over a year ago after the owner Red Schoenheider died after running the place for 52 years. He had a recipe that was very similar, thin crispy crust, great sauce, fantastic sausage and other toppings and loads of cheese, never had to ask for extra cheese unless you wanted a heart attack!! I was able to get there on 9-16-17 the last day of business to have a goodbye pie and a few beers. I drove Metro Transit for 36 years and another driver had to give up his table for a bigger crowd, we ended up at the bar with pizza and bus stories to share. Had some leftovers I brought to a friends house the next day to share the last day with him. There are 13 franchise take out places but the original taste and aura are not there! Keep that place going it's a GEM!! If I get down that way I will be there for sure!!

It's Walmart's on 95th & Western- then down the street to Roseangelos. I can barely concentrate-shopping, thinking about that pizza.

I was a PIZZAMAKER for 37 years....FIRST AND FORMOST...TO DO THE VOLUME AND LABOR TO MAKE JUST THE TOMATO BASED SAUCE IS SO COSTLY AND TIME CONSUMING...IT NOT WORTH IT...MAYBE FOR HOME USE...BUT DOES FROM A BUSINESS STANDPOINT...IF YOU PROPERLY SEASON ANYTHING RIGHT...IT SHOULD COME OUT FINE...SECONDLY....THE WAX BAGS AND CARDBOARD CIRCLES...ARE A THING OF THE PAST...YES SOME PLACES STILL USE THEM...BUT HARDER TOO CLOSE A BAG THAT HAS BEEN STAPLED..ON BOTH SIDES AFTER STEALING A PIECE BEFORE YOU BRING IT HOME TOO THE FAMILY..LOL. BOXS ARE MORE MANAGEABLE AND EASIER TO CARRY ESPECIALLY...IF YOU HAVE OTHER THINGS ORDERED...LIKE SODA POP AND OTHER FOOD ITEMS...ALSO MAKE IT EASIER FOR THE DELIVERY PERSON TOO. MOST PLACES DON'T MAKE THEIR OWN SAUSAGE...SOME DO. MOSTLY ALL PLACES MAKE THEIR OWN DOUGH...GRIND THEIR CHEESE( MOST PLACES USE A WHOLE MILK/ PART SKIM BLEND...SOME ADD A LITTLE PROVOLONE TOO THE MIX FOR FLAVOR. REMEMBER...EVERYONE, ITS THE SAUCE AND THE BLEND OF THE RIGHT SPICES THAT MAKE THE PIZZA...DOUGH SECOND...AND INGREDIENTS THIRD....UNDERCOOKING AND OVERCOOKING...WILL PLAY A FACTOR..IN OVERALL TASTING OF THE PIE OF PIZZA THAT YOU ORDERED. AFTER 37 YEARS...NOW I AM A CONSULTANT. SHOULD OF HAD 4 PLACES..BY NOW...BECAUSE OF BAD DECISIONS...I MADE ...NO ONES FAULT BUT MINE...I CAN LIVE WITH IT...WISH I COULD CHANGE THAT...WHO KNOWS???...MAYBE I WIN POWERBALL OR MEGA MILLIONS...THIS UPCOMING DRAWING...AND YES..IF I DO WIN...MARK MY WORDS...I WOULD MAKE MY DREAM A REALITY...AND FROM THR GROUND UP AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN...BUILD MY DREAM RESTAURANT.....AND MAKE MY OWN PIZZA...WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE LEARNED OVER 37 YEARS...JUST TOO SAY ONCE...THAT I DID IT.

Back in 1961 when we were kids we would walk to school and go past this restaurant and steal their donuts in the morning before the restaurant opened. We had no money and that was our breakfast.

Man I've had Rosangelas pizza for many decades, it's the VERY BEST PIZZA!. We moved from Ill. and never forgot it. We wish they'ed ship it. LOL.....Why didn't you get the recipe for the pizza, I'd pay to get it.

probably just a tomato base, they add their own spices. Only thing they didn't do was blend tomatoes... Only a guess though.

Oh please. Sorry to break your hearts, but there is very little different in a plain can of tomato sauce (which is not at all seasoned much) and crushing whole tomatoes. I worked in many a pizza restaurant, and seriously that kind of snobbery doesn't work in the real world. It is in how it is seasoned that counts more, as well as the type of tomatoes themselves, but the later only works in Chicago Style Deep Dish.

Dude, the TOMATOES are from the can. The other ingredients, not so. It's called editing, and often, pizzerias would not want us to show their sauce-making process, so their secret remained so.
