in this video i'm sharing with you my chin-chin recipe
Chin Chin is a West African Fried pastry enjoyed throughout the region especially in Cameroon. It is usually Crispy Crunchy and Addictive.
originally chin chin was prepared for special occasions. It has evolved from a special occasion food to being a snack food, sold on street corners, kiosk and supermarkets.
Chin chin starts with a soft sweet dough made from all-purpose flour, sugar, butter or margarine, flavored with nutmeg or vanilla. eggs, and/or water or milk. My version features condensed milk which is an untraditional addition that has become a favorite of mine. The dough is rolled out by hand or passed through a pasta roller, cut into a variety of shapes, and fried. It’s common to eat chin chin cold: Freshly fried chin chin are soft and crumbly, but will harden and become crunchy once cool.
Ingredients:
- 4cups of flour (600g)
- 3 tablespoon butter ( 100g)
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tin of condensed milk
- 1 or 1/2 tablespoon of baking powder
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 salt
-1 tablespoon of cornstarch ( optional
1 cup of milk
