NEW DELHI: Earlier this week, Bhutan and China held the 25th round of border talks in Beijing, with reports suggesting that both sides may have moved closer to a settlement. Negotiations have been going on for nearly four decades and China has often tried to impose its say on Bhutan by raising new territorial claims but the tiny Himalayan country which does not have formal diplomatic relations with China has not given in yet. A key element in the dispute is where exactly the trijunction (of India, Bhutan and China), which is close to the Siliguri corridor, should be. Both India and China have differing claims on this.
