China's very own cyber vigilante justice. Sometimes used for good, sometimes for nefarious reasons. Either way, we cover this topic that always seems to be in the news.
人肉搜索; pinyin: Rénròu Sōusuǒ is a Chinese term for the phenomenon of distributed researching using Internet media such as blogs and forums. It is similar to the concept of "doxing", a practice often associated with Anonymous. Both human flesh search engine and doxing have generally been stigmatized as being for the purpose of identifying and exposing individuals to public humiliation, sometimes out of vigilantism, nationalist or patriotic sentiments, or to break the Internet censorship in the People's Republic of China. More recent analyses, however, have shown that it is also used for a number of other reasons, including exposing government corruption, identifying hit and run drivers, and exposing scientific fraud, as well as for more "entertainment"-related items such as identifying people seen in pictures.
Hop on and find out!
Living in China for so long, we would like to share some of the comparisons that we have found between China and the west, and shed some light on the situation.
Every week, we take you to a new place in China on our bikes, cover a topic, and reply to your questions.
Tune in, hop on, and stay awesome!

Forget the flesh search, the whole concept of having a conversation like that riding around the back streets of China is absolutely the neatest thing I have ever seen. I love the real China, I love exploring it, I prefer to avoid the tourist centers and personally think you should use this as a 'off the track real tourism' channel. Got my vote.

I went twice to China and once to Hong Kong, and I just did a couple or tours is better to hand out by your self. I used Trip advisor to find places around me and I went to all sort of places, temples, restaurans, Zoo, Aquariums, restaurans, clubs, massage sessions, everything. And riding a cheap bike, is the best way to go.

Not really. The whole meaning of "human flesh search engine" is just to search for someone with the help of the internet users. Usually you end up with that specific someone's acquaintance, and they would leak that person's personal information. (Lots of people don't realize that this is illegal, sadly, law enforcement in China is crap right now). Usually the ones being searched are people who molest/kill animals/got a sex-tape leak/expressed very controversial opinions online etc...So it's not really a witch hunt.

Actually, it's more risky than you think due to what happens after you get injured. Hospitals in China just aren't as developed and neither are the doctors as thoroughly trained as in developed countries, not to mention that medicine can be highly suspect. Serpentza & C-Milk know that if something happened to them, they would have to be picked up by friends & rushed to the nearest tier 1 city which might be several hours away. Even then, the hospitals just aren't the same.

At 7:38 when C-Milk mentioned the two girls "squatting", what does that mean? Were they peeing in public or something, or is simply crouching down a super demonized thing? Or is squatting being used to mean sleeping in a public place?

Hey guys thanks for the information on the Human Search Engine, really informative. Also I just saw that Chinawire ran a story about Wilson's video (one of the first videos of his I ever saw) on their Wechat account. How are you guys feeling about the whole thing, as a student living in China if this was happening to me I would be really scared. China is a great place to live but sometimes you do hear things that make you uneasy. Anyway keep safe.

reminds me of russian flesh search. Like there was a famous CP porn (it's beyond my udnerstandig of how life works HOW exactly it got famous since CP is illegal here even to watch) with preteen girl reaaally enjoying it and it was so against moral attitude of most people here like "how dares she enjoy it when she supposed to be suffering". So mobs searched and find out that she's legal already and married some dude. Long story short he divorced her when people started to mock her husband about her past. The most funny thing is - nobody (including authorities who just didn't care about this while situation at all) gave a shit about who filmed her and the person who had sex with her when she was underaged. It was HER fault of not being a victim. Lol, it's so sick.

@HanzoMan A child cannot “consent” to that! They are innocent, and bringing them up to think what adults are doing to them is the norm is just destructive and sick. They are being used for someone else’s sick pleasure and will never recover from that! I can’t believe that you are so morally bankrupt that you would make a statement like that! You need help.

i think Winston has no blame here. You are just sharing your experiences after questions from viewers. Without, there would be no video about it in the first place. Also you (both) have a good heart. Both of you have wives and 1 is already happy dad. If there is one signal of trust a female can give then it is this. Long story short, i hope your human flesh experience will be going ok. And i hope the bloggers see the good side of your videos and questions. keep it up guys :)

Being a person who loves and protects his Privacy, I don't know if I could handle that sort of scrutiny... I punted a lot of my family, through the goal posts of life, because they couldn't stop Gossiping about me... (My Chinese Sister-in-law). That Search Engine is simply a Gossip Engine, as far as I can tell. An old Chinese Proverb... "Gossip is like throwing a plate on the floor and breaking it, then say you're sorry to the Plate..." What is said can do a lot of damage that can Never be fixed or repaired and saying you're sorry does nothing to help, the damage done... I really hope, in your case Winston, that it benefits you... Publicity can be a good thing... Look no further than Madonna or the more recent celebrity... Can't remember her name, but the publicity sells Records... Maybe this notoriety will increase your subscribers... :-) Keeping my fingers crossed ;-)

I wish the best for you since we don't know what will come of all this... I watched that video the day you posted it, and I don't remember you saying anything slanderous about women. I'm sure millions of idiots think or ask if Asian girls are easy... It's just kind of sad that anyone has that narrow of mindset... If your intentions are pure and you love and respect her the way shes deserves.... then YES IT IS EASY unless she is a gold-digger or just not into you. I'm not going to lie, but when you posted that video with the same title... I had a weird feeling... Women don't want to be referred to as easy in any culture I'd imagine... I know I don't want that for them. Cheers

For their explanation: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pZ-Vi8xkt7KcoWg.html Basically: if it's common areas (not your on own property / not in your apartment) then it's always somebody else's problem. I would add the guess that the authorities who built the infrastructure (roads/footpaths/parks/etc) only had enough resources to build, but not maintain them.

I have been looking for videos of driving or riding thru sections of towns, cities in other countries,, St Petersburg,,, Prague,, Berlin,, London,,, Belfast,,, Deli ... my point. but most people only donate to charity to make themself feel better anyway ( "buy" positive karma) . or for positive publicity. i wouldn't know of any ppl who donate to charity and actually care about the cause.

There was a TV programme I watched that included a section on a Chinese woman who was sent to prison in China for crushing a puppy. I am sad to learn it seems not any longer to be illegal to be seen perpetrating that sort of disgusting cruelty in that sort of disgusting video there.

How about video about Chinese attitudes towards Chinese-Western couples? The way I have understood Chinese don't commonly show any disdain/resentment to C-W couples in real life face to face, this is probably mainly because Chinese tend to be overall quite prudent to reveal their real thoughts to people they don't know well. Then looking at some of those bitter comments in Winston's recent "Are Chinese girls easy?" video makes me think how general this kind of (hidden) animosity is. Oh well, maybe there isn't enough content for a video in here, and the subject may be too touchy especially at the moment concerning this ongoing "flesh search" thing. This just interests me because I'm also in relationship with a Chinese girl, and tho we haven't been in China, some Chinese men we've met haven't showed that grand enthusiasm when they've seen Chinese together with a foreigner.

Now that's bewildering. Those rock throwers are rabid dogs (or rather rats) that needs to be put down when catched. I've never encountered that level of hostility even nearly, just passive-aggressiveness and disinclination to talk with us and especially with me. For example if I'm in some Chinese restaurant with my lady and there is a male waiter, it's not rare he ignores me completely, even if I try to chat with them with my awful Chinese they usually just reply with their blank stare. It may be their social awkwardness for all I know, but I have a strong feeling it's the fact that I'm with a Chinese woman since I rarely encounter this kind of attitude from Chinese men when I'm alone. And Chinese women respond always to me when I try to chat with them, usually even with a smile (I keep hearing a lot that Chinese don't smile at strangers, bs if you ask me ;) ).

Asian guy here. I live in California. A friend (mexican girl -relevant because she is commenting from an outside perspective) once asked me "Hey Mogri. How come all the asian girls that come into my clothing store are all with white guys?" I just shrug but deep down it bugs me that white girls are not crazy about asian guys the way chinese girls are crazy about white guys. There's quite a disparity. I'd say half my good friends are white. I DON'T blame anyone, it just feels shitty at times..
@Dfective11
@Dfective11 8 жыл бұрын
+Mogri It's hardly our white guys fault if white girls aren't that crazy about unindependent mommy's boys with this Asian patriarchy mindset. You said half of your friends are white and that's great. However very often I see Asian people hanging around just with other Asians. If their social circles does not include any whites, it's one big turn off also for white girls.
