It is a Scott Spark copy for sure, from a reputable chinese brand doesn't mean it is bad quality! I bet it performs and last same as the real deal! Cheers!

@mcmtb when a Chinese brand make a carbon bike they won't design their own frame as its much more expensive to design the frame moulds and carbon sheets so they will use a frame mould that they already have i.e. one that Scott designed

So I bought the same wheelset (think I mentioned that I got the same problem with the hubs as you did). Recently, JGBike has made a new hubset and it's an exact fit for that wheelset. Had my LBS check it out and we were pretty impressed with how smooth the bearings are and how good the engagement is. Still within my first 100mi so only time and trails will tell how good it is over time. But if you can, look it up. Very nice and cost effective hubs for those WTB rims. 6 pawls, 104 engagement.

Rumor is that some of those China carbon factories that produce major brands (like Scott) secretly use the same molds to produce off market frames they sell out the back door without permission of the major brand. Or that when a major brand shift’s manufacturer plants the old plant keeps the mold and continues to produce the frame as an off brand. This frame could possibly be from a Scott spark mold but produced and sold as a grey market off brand.

I bet you'd feel the xc geometry by lowering your cockpit just a bit and having an 80 or 90 mil stem with a negative 17 rise and a straight handlebar with a 6 or 9 degree backspeep. That would be prety awesome and would definitely feel like scott spark. Yeah, like everyone agrees, looks like a Spark. Happy for you, man. About the down country vs. xc question, if you use a slightly longer stem (if the reach works for you) you might have a little more agility on the climbs. 💪😎

You might be right I noticed that it is bobbing a lot on steep rocky climb, I might put a 60 mm them on it
@williammorris6097
@williammorris6097 Жыл бұрын
A longer stem may give you a more stable platform on the climbs but makes the steering any other time on the track slightly slower. I raced off-road motorcycles for three decaedes and many of the things from that sport directly apply to mountain bikes as well. wider bars give more leverage but again mean slower steering reaction from the bike. Personally, for xc racing and faster trail riding, I'd rather have the quicker steering imput that a shorter stem provides, as long as its not too short like a 50mm which sometimes gives the bike steering a "twitchy" feel taking away from stability in rough stuff. Ive settled on a 65 mm stem that seems to do everything pretty well. Ive also used a 70mm and 60 mm . I can certainly tell the difference between the 60 mm and the 70mm lengths, so it doesnt take a whole lot to change the feel.

My first bike I built up was a chinese carbon frame, the workswell 062 which has really good reviews and it seemed all good but it really wasn't, the amount of frame flex at the bottom bracket was unreal!! it also developed 3 small cracks after just one year of riding on easy trails with no crashes. My next frame I purchased was a real 2017 Scott Spark RC 900 HMX and it came with the fox nude shock, the fox 32 step cast and the twinloc lever, I got it used for $2100 2 years ago. I can say for sure this Scott frame is absolutely amazing, stiff in all the right places, robust for its weight, perfect tolerances. My suggestion to people is spend the extra money and try to pick up a real scott spark frame. The carbon fiber layup process is very important to the performance of a carbon frame and there is no way this chinese company is actually replicating that procedure same as Scott, they are just make the frame look the same. With all this being said im sure the chinese frame is fine and will not explode underneath you but dont expect it to perform as good as the real Scott frame and I would be checking it for cracks more often then a trusted brand

They build it on a Scott Spark mold, but not using the same carbon, neither the same manufacturing standards, resin, etc. That's why the original Scott Spark frame is almost half the weight of the Chinese version. But I'd guess that the Chinese version is probably even stronger, since frame walls are thicker, in exchange of a better compliance and flexibility where it needs to flex.

I think that bike is more classified as a “trail” bike. It has a slacker head tube, typically 120-130mm of travel, and is targeted for fun and playful trail riding. XC bikes typically have a steep head tube angle, 100mm of travel, and is targeted to XC racing. 98% of people who say they ride XC are actually doing trail riding and would be better suited with a trail bike. I’ve seen your riding on the channel and your definitely more of a trail rider than XC racer. This bike suits your riding style better. Really nice bike.

Probably the manufacturer of the Scott frame and it didn’t meet quality control for Scott. What are they going to do, throw it away? I don’t think so.

Behest to many China and Taiwan is where most bigbrand bike frames come from. I got a original Shimano chainring that broke 4 teeth just after 3mos.

Some people say Trifox is producing carbon bikes for some Italian big names. Idk if that's true

Most Chinese carbon mountain bike frames are pretty cheap, but some cost an arm and a leg.

I believe these frames come out from the same factory. There is also a chinese no name version of the stumpjumper on the market.

MC, sounds like you may have some doubts about this frame. Trust your gut. Unknown manufacturing history or quality consistency? Safe riding.

You are implying inconsistancy in Chinese carbon frame manufacturing.. What is your basis for that assumption? I have owned and raced Chinese carbon no name brands in 46 xc races with zero problems on only one hardtail frame. I put 300 kilometers per week on that bike ftraining every day with zero problems.I now own a Chinese carbon full sus frame that is almost identical to this one. Three wins, one 3rd place finish in 4 races so far in my age group. Again no problems. Stick to your name brand bike and shell out a fortune for it. Or, with the money I saved building my chinese carbon fo almost half the price, funding my trip to Thailand to race it as I am wriing this now, sitting in Udon Thani, Thailand, away from the snow and cold of Colorado for several months, keeping my training going round the year. That is far more valuable /memorable to me than a decal with a well known name brand on my downtube.
Was my cheap, Chinese, Carbon Fibre bike from AliExpress worth it?
