Choctaw Tribe History

The Choctaw are Native American people of the Muskogean language group, which also includes other southeastern Native nations.
Their land was mainly in todays Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and parts of Georgia and Florida. They trace their roots to a mound building, agricultural based society that flourished in the Mississippi river valley.
Back in the day they were farmers, hunters, geatherers and fisherman.
Choctaws are closely associated with the Chickasaws, their neighbours to the north, another Muskogean speaking nation. They will later be part of the five civilized tribes, as the settlers would call them.
Their traditional governance was organized around moities and district.
The Choctaw are a matrilineal society. They also placed great value on the sport of stickball.
With Europeans arriving, they allied themselves with the French and fought the British and other Native nations that were allied with the British, like the Chickasaw, their traditional enemies. They also played a role in the 7 year war, American revolution, the war of 1812 and the civil war.
During the 19th century, the Choctaw people faced forced removal from their ancestral lands in the Trail of Tears, a devastating chapter in Native American history.
Despite this adversity, the Choctaw Nation persevered and adapted.
They were vital in World War 1 as code talkers and World War 2 both as code talkers and in other parts of the American military.
They are one of the biggest Native American nations today, counting around 200 000 members with strong presence in Oklahoma and Mississippi.

My mother was white and I didn't know my father very well, but he said he was half Spaniard Mexican (he was an illegal immigrant for a while, very cool), and half Colorado Appache. Everyone I've spoken with about it says they've never heard of any Apache communities in Colorado. Anyhooch, I hope you make a video about Colorado Apache sometime if that's even a real thing.

Great job, thank you very much for doing it. How did the American Reservation system come to be? What were the tribes knowledge and dealings with Central America, what did they know about the building of the pyramids and stone city's? What did they know about Giants? Did they ever make it to Celilo Falls and the American West Coast? What periods did they perish from pandemics? A Creation Story would be cool. Tracking the language and genetics would be nice to know too. Mingo's , where does this originate?

I have a question I was hoping someone could answer. In the early 2000s, I was watching an F4U Corsair documentary, this was on either the Military Channel, or the Military History Channel; neither of witch still exists. Anyway, 25% of the documentary was dedicated to a Native American Corsair pilot who his squamates said was America's true top ace of the war with 46 kills. The current (recognized) top US ace was Dick Bong with 38 or 39 kills. This F4U pilots, who with about a half-dozen other pilots said got 46 kills, was a Native American, but also an alcoholic. Apparently, according to former teammates, he was essentially black listed after he knocked out a senior officer for making fun of him (racists remarks); thus, his commanding officers didn't credit his kills to him. Plus, an alcoholic and rowdy Native American as America's top ace isn't the greatest for propaganda, nor as good for selling war bonds. I've searched for him, but I haven't found anything on Google; any help would be much appreciated. This reminds me of another legend, the greatest tank ace of WWII. When you ask people, "who was the greatest tank ace of the war?" People almost always, especially before KZfaq, reply Michael Wittmann. Wittmann was incredible, with a whopping 139 kills. Seriously, Wittmann was the Mick Jagger of Germany during the war. However, he was not the greatest tank ace. Nope, that honor went to Kurt Knipsel, he had a confirmed 165 kills. In fact his true number is actually much higher; he would disable an enemy tank, taking out their tracks or engine, even though he had a kill shot, to allow other tank commanders in his unit to get the kill (build up their confidence). Unlike Wittmann, no one in Germany, or even most casual WWII enthusiasts before KZfaq, knew his name. He was barely promoted or even given any medals. Why? Well, he saw two SS officers beating a prisoner of war, he then beat them up. Ever since then, he didn't receive any press or medals, his commanding officers completely shunned him, only his phenomenal skills on the battlefield and his leadership quality kept him away from the firing squad.

As an Indigenous American, Tsalagi aniyvwiya(Cherokee) Chataah(choctaw) and Lakota, I can tell you that your info is quite wrong, your territories of tribe's is wrong, ALL of Georgia, about 1/5 of Alabama, the northern handle of Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia was all Tsalagi territories, "creek"/Muskokee tribe was often trying to make parts of our territories, theirs,but usually had their rearends handed to them. I wish Caucasians would call us by wh I we really are and not their make believe names they gave us🙄😒😒 The disrespect never ends, does it??

In this video, your funny AI voice spoke your research mistake. When the British lost the seven years war. They gave up or sold the rite of trade to the tribes of the areas they claimed. Lands were never a part of that, much like the other times including the Louisiana purchas. I call this the amusement of words by the united states of embarrassment.
