Chris Broderick and Gus G are both on the cover of the September 2015 issue of Guitar World! These shredders sat down to talk about their influences, trade licks, and remind us why they're so incredible.

SuperPsychoterror Really? Who cares about the hairband? Have you heard his songs, they're amazing! Also, did you know that Diary of Hell's guitar started as a collaboration between the two? Imagine Loomis dropping a solo on that song!!

Yes he is a beast of a guitarist but I will never respect him until he loses the hairband. Ask yourself this? Would Dave Mustaine or Ozzy Have him as a guitarist with that hairband? I know for a fact that Dave Mustaine wouldn't and I would be shocked if Ozzy would. Dave Mustaine would laugh his ass off before saying "You're joking right?" and Ozzy would be like "Mmmpppp phhhhpthh brpppp, whats that thing on your guitar? A hairtie? Those fucking things go in your hair, what the bloody hell is it doing on your guitar?"

SuperPsychoterror No offense but this the most stupid comment,I've read in a guitar-related video in quite some time.Guitarists are using hairbands or other devices,to reduce string noise, for decades.Greg Howe is doing it since the early 90's.Or how about Guthrie Govan,he also uses it all the time. These guys could play any Ozzy or Megadeth song in their sleep and with one hand behind their backs.

I randomly came across this. You know what? These are nice musicians. I don't like their style or their sound, but between them they mentioned DiMeola, Julian Breem, Eddie, and Coltrane. These guys are listening. And they have some humility. This separates them from, perhaps, 90% of guitar players.

I've been listening to Gus G for a while now from his earlier Firewind stuff through Ozzie and his new solo stuff and I'm impressed by his growth as a guitarist. And Chris Broderick's technique and knowledge of music is incredible. But what gets me about this video is how crunchy and percussive Gus' tone is here and Chris' sounds kinda weak. Not just the volume difference, but the tone itself. Just an observation, don't hate on me. BTW, the new Act of Defiance stuff is KILLER! I'm a longtime Megadeth fan, but I'm stoked to see Chris breaking free and doing his own thing!

I get it when you said that this video was boring. That is because they were just displaying their shredding techniques. You won't see creativity in that and some may find this technique interesting and want to play fast and articulate like them whereas the rest don't. It's just preference.

I like shredding, but their shredding is not that good. Guys like Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, and Kiko Loureiro were shredding better than these two in the 80's and early 90's.

both of these guys have their hammer on's and pull off's (left hand fretboard ability) down well, but they can't pick. if they turned off all their effects, playing clean and PICKING the fast runs they just demonstrated in this clip without the hammering and pull offs, THEY WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!! these guys are not complete electric players. picking is bigger than hammers and pullers kids, because when you play unplugged or clean.....your tone is mostly in your pick attack. these guys are 70% great and 30% incomplete. I toured with some big names in the business (Ronnie J Dio, Kiss, etc) so I know a thing or two. get away from these bozos and pay more attention to players like Malmsteen, Rhoades, Romeo and Shawn Lane.

Way too much gain, they're not really technically gifted players either, chug out some great riffs and song writing, I mean look at broderick, he couldn't even play those palm muted legato lines, all you heard was noise and lots of mistake, if your left hand isn't even good, it's just feeding your right hand bad information, it's all hiding behind that ridiculous amount if gain, don't get me wrong I think they're both great guys and suit what they do, I can listen to them it's not as if I'm hating on them cause I'm not, just things need pointing out!
