I have never been more impressed with Chris Broderick, his dedication, skills, and passion. My main man is SRV, and my passion is blues. Has been for 37 years. Too bad about the immature comments here.

I've been using a pick clip for over three years now and that thing he said about it making your pick hand more relaxed and close to the fret board is completely true. I'm not an arm picker anymore

This nigga can probably play anything. That must be an amazing feeling to be able to play a new song you just heard right after listening to it for the first time. Thats bad ass baby !!
@MortaniusTaijou14 жыл бұрын
@Nameless164 What Chris is using different, he uses a pick-clip, where you can place any pick of your liking in it; and that is very important. The thumb picks have been around for a while and I think you can find them in any major guitar dealer stores. Those come with a pick already and not replaceable, and may not suite your hand or picking style.

Anyone know where to find some of the thumbpicks Chris uses? I wanna try it out.
@Tviruskillu14 жыл бұрын
@tanreu it's strings are struck not plucked so it's considered a percussion instrument...
@Neoclassicalguitar8913 жыл бұрын
Pick clips are pretty easy to make, all you do is take a dunlop thumpick, then you have 2 options. 1) use a scissor and some sanding paper to shape the pick part of the thumpick into the size and shape of a regular pick, only problem is the pick gets very thick. option 2) cut off the entire pick part, so there is only the part that goes around your finger, then take your normal pick, like a jazz 3 or something, and use some strong glue to attach it to the thumpick, works fine for me
@metehan13407 жыл бұрын
is there any tabs of the scales thst he plays on starting?
@itscoolbro214 жыл бұрын
@aurosne The 7th string is seldom used in this lesson. And if you do a lot of right-hand tapping like myself, the pick clip is a genius idea.
@JoeyDND11 жыл бұрын

Does anyone now where you can find the music or tabs for these videos?
@ClearColorCloud13 жыл бұрын
@Smishik Eh, if you listen to what he says about it, it really is an innovation. The thumb picks are shaped very differently, and don't work as well for alternate picking, which kind of kills the whole shredding thing. The one thing I'd be worried about with this thing is that you can't really alter the angle of attack... but then again most guitarists consider it good technique to use a consistent angle of attack.

@Ironb3rry & @tanreu - sorry, but I have played in orchestra's and bands for 40 years. A piano is a percussion instrument because the sound is produced by a hammer striking a string. As a matter of interest, a Harpsichord is classified as a stringed instrument, because the mechanism under the hood actually plucks the string... I'm not here to start an argument... just recognising an interesting point.

Smart talented man
@Nonchiie14 жыл бұрын
@VMP007 piano is infact percussion, cause the way you get sound is by hitting the strings.

@semilei its a thumb pick, every guitar store sells them for about $.50 - $1.50
@jkdsdmf14 жыл бұрын
@brbbns1 I don't think it is actually a thumb pick, I think it is something that holds a regular pick that he came up with.
@TheBlackdragons6912 жыл бұрын
im confused, is this an interview for him to teach or an infommercial for his pick clip?
@Vercingetorix14 жыл бұрын
@rickyjshiznit Yes, well, when I responded there wasn't an acknowledgement posted. I have a very, very slow connection, some videos can take 1/2 hour to load and sometimes longer when I have mutiple vids downloading. Cheers, V.
@metaljustin12 жыл бұрын
whwere do you get a sharpy pick?!
@redshirt4912 жыл бұрын
It's basically your run-of-the-mill thumbpick, but not quite. It is a little more flexible and adjustable, so it feels like a normal pick when you play with it. Normal thumbpicks tend to be very stiff.
@onpsxmember14 жыл бұрын
@vbandres chris is using Dunlop Sharpie picks (holder not included*g*) it's really crazy to play everything with your left and right hand when he is not playing guitar he is in the gym he should release his thumb-thing soon (i'm waiting...maybe after the american carnage tour?)
