First video: 88000 views. Second video: 29000 views. Third video: 12000 views. Surely only the immortal ones reach the last video. Someone leave the first video in the tuning part, because is too difficult tune down a half step.

jeff here is such a beast... way beyond my current level of playing, but seeing someone as skilled and tasteful as him inspires me to work harder to try to be able to play like him. i get that when i listen to some of the really crazy players, not because i want to surpass anyone but i want to get to that level and be able to come up with and play the kind of things like jeff here. guys like him inspire me to try to push myself to get better.

+warhammer265 amen brother! good attitude. make sure you work with a metronome at least one hour a day doing chromatic speed exercises
@warhammer2658 жыл бұрын
+phantomofoaktown thanks! and definitely, i do the exercises he does in the video pretty much every time i sit down to practice to a metronome along with some other ones. they are pretty effective. i also snagged a jeff loomis dvd where he goes through some of his songs and ideas and such, pretty challenging i gotta say but then again it IS jeff loomis so i figured it would be lol gives me something to work on anyways

i have to say thanks to Loomis for taking the time to make these vids just awesome. godless endeavor is my favorite song of all metal thanks. Jeff

Tfw Loomis’ warm ups are harder than the hardest solos you currently play. Time to practice more.

I'm glad he pointed out the "less hand momentum" fact. So many videos never mention that, and you see so many people pivoting from their elbow.

Jeff is my favourite guitarist , absolute best guitarist ever, wish I could get personal lessons from him it would be awesome thanks for all your content Jeff your awesome bro
@johnnymoraes232 жыл бұрын
Clearly Jeff has studied a lot of Paul Gilbert´s instructional videos. I think that if you´re over 40 and a hard rock/metal player, hardly you have not studied those videos at some point in your practice, they where very popular in the guitar community in th 90´s. Petrucci´s instructional video was also very good for helping to develop picking speed.
@kungfuman822 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I’ve been watching a lot of Al Joseph’s instructional videos on KZfaq and he seems to coalesce all that stuff in a way that makes sense to me. I don’t know, it’s like one of those “when the student is ready, the master will appear” kind of things.

@solidranger Its because 7 strings are just one extra low string. You can tune all six strings the same as his, you'll just be short one string. However, since most of this is lead and arpeggios, etc, you would never know the difference because he rarely will use the seventh string (if he does, you can leave it out or substitute something else in for it). I'd personally say that the "six stringers" like you and I could probably do everything in the entire video set (granted we could play it of

I'm a huge believer in practicing with metronomes. A lot of players can have an easier time working on their phrasing if they just learn how to practice with a metronome.

@BizirogluSiker I tune my Les Paul down to drop A all the time and I just have standard strings and I think it sounds and feels just as great as if it were in drop D, or standard tuning. I think a lot of people just don't like the feel>.

Nor the sound. Tone loss from rubber bandy strings in A is horrible lol

Haha I guess it's the way I replace my strings then, because I don't have a rubber band string problem xD

The L.A. Notes the problem is you don't have the proper tension with thinner strings and a shorter scale length, so when you hit the note it goes in and out of pitch, which sounds terrible. Thicker strings and longer scale length keep the notes tighter and allows you to play cleaner, it just sounds better.

Estoy confundido. Debo tocar con la plumilla alternada todo el tiempo o se vale tocar dos cuerdas en la misma dirección sin alternar ???
@Arturianosable18 жыл бұрын
Te aconsejo que hagas lo posible para siempre alternar, porque parte del ejercicio es que hagarres forma en el switch picking interno, que son los más difíciles cuando tocas rápido.
@balamsky8 жыл бұрын
¿Sabes de algún video donde pueda ver mejor eso?
8 жыл бұрын

Hi this is Jeff Loomis, ok the first thing I do is have 13 and 1/2 inch long fingers and this way I can stretch my hands 3.7 feet across the fretboard, bigger then your normal sized guitar,so if you are a 6 string player with a standard guitar good luck to you,but sorry, you will never shred like me because I am a Viking Guitar God with fingers the length of your entire arm.
