This doesn’t feel like the Mavs vs Heat 2011 finals. This feels more like the Lakers vs Pistons finals. The Lakers were experienced champions with 3 titles just like GSW and were the heavy favorites. Pistons were underdogs that play very good defense and has good role players just like Toronto. With that said, there isn’t nearly as much beef with KD and the other stars on GSW compared to the Shaq and Kobe. However, if they win then KD leaves and tries to prove he can win without them just like Shaq and Kobe tried doing winning without the other one. It’s a little bit different situation but this GSW situation with KD is most comparable to the end of the Shaq-Kobe Lakers.

With KD they can damn near sweep any team and they don't have to worry about facing an OKC with KD or a San Antonio with KD. They needed KD off of the Thunder more than actually needed him on their team. It's like Draymond Green said they really don't need him. But I don't agree with people that say they are a better team without KD. Even then they did beat LBJ the year before that and they probably should have beat him the year they lost. How can a team that won 73 games say they need one of the best players in the NBA. It's like if the 96 Bull's say they needed Shaq.

😂😂 save the warriors, they are just fine without him. Less ISO ball means Toronto is gonna need some oxygen on the bench. If he comes back it helps save the Raptors, because you can put Kahwi on KD, who seems to have put himself in front of the team. Easier to guard one guy with the ball than chase 2 or more across the floor multiple times before they get the ball to shoot.

Livingston-7, Demarcus-5, and Jerebko-2 all come off the books(14mil for Klay).KD opts back in at 31mil for next year(not max). Iggy is at 17mil for next year and Draymond is at 18mil next year. Iggy retires after next year and his 17mil is split up between KD and Draymond for sizable raises(not Max). Everyone else is league minimum or a little going forward. It’s Steph, Klay, Draymond, and KD for the next few years. Got it 🤡

Even if they win it without KD... I still don’t think that means they don’t need him. Big picture... KD has carried the team most of the season... to the point to where we now see a fresher Steph, a fresher Draymond.... and not to mention the bench players. Without him... the rigors of a full NBA season along with the playoffs do eventually take a toll on the rest of the team.

Sean I’m not saying Steph didn’t have a great season. It’s more about him not having to carry the whole load all season. KD’s allowed him to reserve his strength for the end of the season when it matters most.

YS IV Absolutely. But the way that season ended (without a championship and a clanking Harrison Barnes) it made it very clear that without another shooter/high level player in the lineup... this team would only go so far. We went and got KD for a reason.

Maybe saying KD “carried the team” was a bit of a stretch. Steph HAS balled out this year. I’m just saying he didn’t have to do it all on his own... which has helped him with strength, energy and focus come playoff time.
